On the bright side, the clock seems to have been fixed - but "View New Posts" and "Today's Active Topics" no longer work.

I don't know what's going on, but I can't "View New Posts" or use "Today's Active Topics" at the moment. Can one of the moderators check that out? And there are "276 user(s) active in the past 5 minutes". That's ALOT!

Archive!!!! Anything can happen (server failures, etc)! Seconded! And we don't have the Jim Dye Forum to fall back on anymore either, I don't think.

I like the possibility of Larry and MG both. And Ghost of Miles, if he's indeed interested. All three seem level headed - plus, there's the added benefit of MG being on the "other side" as catesta said earlier.

chris don't delete the list - i think a email list of my favorite jazz buddies would be something nice to have and i would like a copy as i am sure others would. Don't fill my inbox full of babes pics, please! If they were chess babes you'd be singing a different tune!

Interestingly, there's a thread on AAJ about the O board situation, and Mr. Ricci kind of turned it into a thread about needing to drum up money to run that board. He says that it costs them $40K/yr! I think we're doing great on the budget we have, and have a better board all around!

All you've told us that you don't like his avatar....100 times. Nobody agrees with you. Let it go. If anyone else is bothered by Dan, they seem to either ignore him or develop some sort of coping mechanism. I'd guess people do that for anyone that bothers them that much, on any board.

His avatar doesn't seem to bother anyone else. You're the exception here. Sometimes you have to accept what the majority accepts, or if you can't, just suck it up and accept that you're different about it from everyone else. And what I have said to you about being a Dallas fan bothers noone else except you. Don't you see? If we allow this sort of piss-poor behavior for one poster, what is the justification to stop anyone from doing this sort of thing? I honestly don't remember being bothered. Either way, that's just something that was between you and me - not something for the whole board to deal with. Like your problem with Dan's avatar. The board has much more worthwhile things to worry about lately, IMO.

bump... My O-board clock seems to be either an hour or two hours off, no matter how I set the control panel settings. Am I doing something wrong (again)? I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I know....

I didn't vote, but I did make a payment today. I think if there was a meter or running tally of what amount of funds the board currently has, that would help dictate how frequently we'd need to pay.

That makes sense about global moderators. Sometimes arguments carry over from one thread to another, in different forums. Might help to ease some of that. I can see moderators primarily just reminding posters when they get a little out of line to politely draw back, whether through PMs or publicly, as the situation may call for. Sometimes just being reminded to chill helps alot - I know it has for me when my good Chat buddies (and Conn too! ) reign me in.
