I haven't listened in a while, but recall it being good (forgot to grab the disc on the way out the door this a.m.) There are only two tracks by the Cook group on there, ~13 minutes. I wish this set had been two discs instead of one. It's effectively a sampler as it is, I guess. Sidebar - there's also a nice Cook CD on Enja, featuring Pepper. It's called Nightwork. If you like Cook (and Pepper, who I've enjoyed quite a bit in my limited exposure to him) this one's worth checking out.

New Garage a Trois album out here in the U.S. today, titled "Outre Mer", and is the soundtrack to the French film of the same name. Gets a very good write up at allmusic.
-
It was released on Tutu in 1990, and is titled "International Jazzfestival Münster". The performances are actually from 1988 though. Mangelsdorff and Scofield perform 3 tracks, for a total of about 30 minutes - "The Eternal Turn On", "Gray and Visceral", and "Alfie's Theme". I can't find it on amazon or half.com, but it's still apparently available at Amazon Germany: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000...3396125-3726924 Not sure whether you want to pay that price and the shipping costs though. edit - appears to be available through Cadence in the U.S., as well...

Somebody stole my freakin' cell phone

take them out of your email, save them to your hard drive, then upload them as any other JPG. -
RIP Albert... All I have of his is the live duet CD from the Munster Jazz Fest, which paired him up with John Scofield. Very interesting to hear trombone & guitar together. Will be spinning that one in the morning in tribute.

Somebody stole my freakin' cell phone

Did you put the phone down somewhere and forget it, only to find someone had walked off with it? Or did someone break into your car or something? Alot of cell phone plans offer insurance, I believe, in the case of damage or loss of phone. I don't think it costs a whole lot, either. Might be worth checking into for your next phone. -
Had a chance to listen to this yet? Any good? The cover has caught my eye more than once, already....

...I think someone just got a digital camera

The Groundtruther album is the latest, I believe. Unless there's been a TJ Kirk album, or Garage a Trois since then - which is very likely.

10 Organ Records You Must Own To Post Here
Aggie87 replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
Rather obvious, isn't it? -
Not necessarily - Sammy Hagar put out "Standing Hampton" a while back (jeez, 1981, didn't realize it was THAT old now). Of course, that doesn't mean most Americans still "get it".

You sure that wasn't Stanley Turpentine?

cool! I got throught Level 5, then got a massive headache on 6 and had to give up, LOL...

The longbox version of this appears to be coming out on August 23rd. So anybody who's interested in the metal spine box may want to consider picking this up fairly soon, as I'm guessing those will start to dry up quickly...

Organissimo is in the studio...
Aggie87 replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
I just noticed that this released is listed on alankin's site for an August 9th release Can't wait to get my grubby paws on this! That's looking like an expensive day for me, but some good guitar-related discs to look forward - Joe G, Frisell live set, and the Metheny Song X re-release... -
Just noticed this one on alankin's website, due out in a couple weeks! Trio date with Matt Brewer on bass and Tain Watts on drums. Includeds covers of Ornette ("Mob Job") and Dolphy ("Miss Ann"). This sounds VERY interesting to me!

VERY cloudy, and some random heavy showers right now. Looks like we're going to get some of the rain and wind from Emily...heavier tonight and tomorrow. Hope the folks a little further south from me aren't hurt too bad.

There are two titles available at yourmusic.com for the low price of $5.99 - Domino, and Live In Copenhagen. Both well worth the price and then some! Edit - Another vote for "We Free Kings". There's also an interesting late era compilation called "Simmer, Reduce, Garnish & Serve".

More Neil Peart, less cowbell: CGI Peart (noticed this over at AAJ - gotta give props where they're due)

I don't have this deal currently. Still have the "Buy 1, Get 2 free, then take unlimited 80% Off" offer. Is there a code associated with the deal you're posting?

Had a bit of rain the past couple of days, and keeping an eye on Hurrican Emilly. It's hot here, but not as hot as Tucson. Though we get that wonderful humidity, which makes it just as unpleasant... If this thing heads on its northern-most projection, Corpus Christi may get the brunt of the storm, due to the counter-clockwise spin. I expect at least some wind & more rain either way. May have to high-tail it back up to Austin for a couple days this week.

Enjoying a Munchner Kindl Hefe Weizen tonight (half liter size, of course). Makes me miss the Gemütlichkeit at the Hofbrauhaus....
