  1. The longbox version of this appears to be coming out on August 23rd. So anybody who's interested in the metal spine box may want to consider picking this up fairly soon, as I'm guessing those will start to dry up quickly...
  2. I just noticed that this released is listed on alankin's site for an August 9th release Can't wait to get my grubby paws on this! That's looking like an expensive day for me, but some good guitar-related discs to look forward - Joe G, Frisell live set, and the Metheny Song X re-release...
  3. Just noticed this one on alankin's website, due out in a couple weeks! Trio date with Matt Brewer on bass and Tain Watts on drums. Includeds covers of Ornette ("Mob Job") and Dolphy ("Miss Ann"). This sounds VERY interesting to me!
  4. VERY cloudy, and some random heavy showers right now. Looks like we're going to get some of the rain and wind from Emily...heavier tonight and tomorrow. Hope the folks a little further south from me aren't hurt too bad.
  5. There are two titles available at yourmusic.com for the low price of $5.99 - Domino, and Live In Copenhagen. Both well worth the price and then some! Edit - Another vote for "We Free Kings". There's also an interesting late era compilation called "Simmer, Reduce, Garnish & Serve".
  6. More Neil Peart, less cowbell: CGI Peart (noticed this over at AAJ - gotta give props where they're due)
  7. I don't have this deal currently. Still have the "Buy 1, Get 2 free, then take unlimited 80% Off" offer. Is there a code associated with the deal you're posting?
  8. Due out in August is a three CD set from Yes, titled "The Word is Live" - cover art: Disc 1 1. Then - BBC 1970 2. For Everyone - BBC 1970 3. Astral Traveller - Gothenburg 1971 4. Make It Easy/Owner Of A Lonely Heart - Houston 1988 All Selections previously unissued except Disc 1, tracks 1 & 2 Some interesting stuff on this box, though it might have been nice if they has decided to make this a 4 disc set and include some stuff from the post-Big Generator era. Union/ABWH, Talk, Keys, Ladder, Magnification, etc.
  9. Had a bit of rain the past couple of days, and keeping an eye on Hurrican Emilly. It's hot here, but not as hot as Tucson. Though we get that wonderful humidity, which makes it just as unpleasant... If this thing heads on its northern-most projection, Corpus Christi may get the brunt of the storm, due to the counter-clockwise spin. I expect at least some wind & more rain either way. May have to high-tail it back up to Austin for a couple days this week.
  10. Enjoying a Munchner Kindl Hefe Weizen tonight (half liter size, of course). Makes me miss the Gemütlichkeit at the Hofbrauhaus....
  11. I haven't seen the 2nd one out yet, how is it compared to the first with Osby? I love that one - in fact it IS probably my favorite Hunter album. I still have the Natty Dread cd and the Candyman one, but rarely pull them out. They are my favorites of his BN stuff at any rate. I'd bet he'd be fascinating to see live (or on the DVD), but I've grown a little tired of the "thin" sound of most of his discs. Not enough going on for me in general.
  12. One of my local stores has the 3 disc Shut Up & Play Yer Guitar box. Anybody have all three discs in this series? I've picked it up a few times and put it back down, just need to be pushed over the edge and buy the damn thing...
  13. There may be nothing ILLEGAL about that, under EU copyright law. However, I'd say there's something unethical, or at the very least immoral about it. The three original LPs that are the subject of this thread do not meet the 50 yr threshold (or whatever it is) under EU law, and are therefore not public domain in Europe.
  14. Any idea whether this has made it to CD? I'd be curious to hear this. It's listed as a Solal date on AMG. Sco also played on Lee Konitz' "Rhapsody II", but I'm not sure what else they've been on together. And my enthusiasm for "all things Scofield" has slowed down quite a bit, but I still really enjoy alot of his earlier BN and pre-BN work. This is the type of thing I'm looking for from him these days.
  15. A couple more just showed up apparently: Al Cohn - The Al Cohn Quintet (warning: w/Bob Brookmeyer!) Dizzy Gillespie - Sittin' In
  16. Not much happening at yourmusic lately, but a couple of new titles that I noticed: Harry Edison - Sweets Joe Newman Quintet - at Count Basie's
  17. It's missing a major ingredient....
  18. Definitely not Anderson. But he could sing "Video Killed the Radio Star" with the best of them! That looks like it might be a fun nostalgia type show. I still enjoy the Drama album quite a bit. And Wakeman claims he'll no longer be touring after this year, I believe. So it's entirely possible that Geoff Downes could end up being the Yes keyboardist again.
  19. I have never heard any of Deep's music, but I do recall how rudely he treated Bertrand.
  20. I don't see a problem with buying used cds, personally. They were rightfully purchased, originally, and royalties were paid. The only thing that has happened is that the ownership has changed hands, and in theory some middleman/men (used cd store, seller on ebay, etc) have made a buck or two in the process. But the creators got the fees they were entitled to. Same logic as buying a used car. The car company got their money on the original sale. Why would they be upset if people purchase used cars - is it money lost to them because the used purchaser isn't buying a new car??
  21. I don't copy mine either. I trade/sell things i don't care to keep, or things that i somehow end up with duplicates of. No cdr-ing here. In fact, i could count my cdrs on one hand i think.
  22. I agree with Chris' sentiment. Trading is one thing, but when you keep a CDR of the title after passing on ownership, that's effectively creating an extra copy of the music for which the artist gets no income.
  23. Anyone looking for a nice Kinks compilation? I found this one a while back, and think it fits the bill nicely: Track Listings Disc: 1 1. You Really Got Me 2. All Day and All of the Night 3. Tired of Waiting for You 4. Everybody's Gonna Be Happy 5. Set Me Free 6. See My Friends 7. Till the End of the Day 8. Dedicated Follower of Fashion 9. Sunny Afternoon 10. Dead End Street 11. Waterloo Sunset 12. Death of a Clown 13. Autumn Almanac 14. Susannah's Still Alive 15. Wonderboy 16. Days 17. Plastic Man 18. Victoria 19. Lola 20. Apeman 21. Supersonic Rocket Ship 22. Better Ship 23. Come Dancing 24. Don't Forget to Dance Disc: 2 1. David Watts 2. Stop Your Sobbing 3. Dandy 4. Mr. Pleasant 5. I Gotta Move 6. Who'll Be the Next in Line 7. I Need You 8. Where Have All the Good Times Gone 9. Sittin' on My Sofa 10. Well Respected Man 11. I'm Not Like Everybody Else 12. Love Me Till the Sun Shines 13. She's Got Everything 14. Starstruck 15. Shangri-La 16. God's Children 17. Celluloid Heroes 18. (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman 19. Do It Again 20. Living on a Thin Line
  24. Grazzi. Ma nitkellimx bil-Malti. Titkellem bl-Ingliz? Ghandi flixkun wiski. Dan ghall-uzu tieghi persunali.
