  1. My one and only resolution: Do everything in my power to prevent Bush from being elected (or appointed) to a second term as President. I don't think this country (or the world) could withstand it.
  2. Now we know where he gets it Catesta, do you do the Italian seafood feast on Christmas eve like my family does? My mother is Italian you know...Aliano used to be her name. Not quite a 7 fish dinner but we have three: crab, shrimp, & calamari. One for each of the wise men my mother says. Of course I'm far away from my mother now. She lives in Philly and I live in Seattle. But I have a brother and a sister who live here so we do it with our families. My mother comes to visit every third Christmas or so.
  3. Depends on if you got kids. In my family adults eat (generously), drink(embarrassingly) and open gifts all on Christmas Eve. The kids then wake up their hung over parents at 5am (2 hours after they've fallen asleep) where upon the drunken dad has to put together a bike, train set, and stereo while sipping a rum eggnog hair of the dog.
  4. I have to agree with Chuck and JohnS. Holland's more recent records bore me. Don't get me wrong, they are all motherfuckers, but some how the CD's just seem so perfect. I don't want perfect. I want adventure taking. If you're not making mistakes you not reaching far enough. They are hot live though. But I haven't been really enthused by a DH recording since 'Jumpin' In'.
  5. Thanks Mark. My condolences to the wife. That Dr. Phil will kill ya'. You're a noble man to give up such a harmlessly enlightened vice for the sake of saving your woman's soul. Be safe, and don't-don't-don't believe the hype.
  6. Yep, I gain knowledge from them everyday. Knowledge leads to wisdom. And wisdom leads one not to wish for peace while hyping an unnecessary war. Merry Christmas berigan. HAPPY CHRISTMAS (WAR IS OVER) So this is Christmas And what have you done Another year over And a new one just begun Ans so this is Christmas I hope you have fun The near and the dear ones The old and the young A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And so this is Christmas For weak and for strong For rich and the poor ones The world is so wrong And so happy Christmas For black and for white For yellow and red ones Let's stop all the fight A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And so this is Christmas And what have we done Another year over And a new one just begun Ans so this is Christmas I hope you have fun The near and the dear ones The old and the young A very merry Christmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear War is over If you want it War is over Now...
  7. Merry Christmas Berigan. But don't you think hoping and praying for a peaceful New Year and voting the way you do is a contradiction? Oh, and your signature is out of context and makes no sense. Happy New Year to ya' my boy
  8. I know a lot of you see me as the (or at least one of the) board provocateur(s). Some of you like me, some of you hate me, some of you just put up with me and still others plain ignore me. But I just wanted to say that I love our little community here and I learn a lot everyday by visiting. I respect all of you regardless of political ideology and temperament. This board gives me the opportunity to interact with people with diverse views, perspectives, and experiences. An opportunity that I do not get very often in my everyday life. So to all my jazz friends (and I consider you all my friends regardless of all the bickering, and head butting), may you all have a very happy, reflective and safe holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah & Happy New Year. Let's hope it's a good one, without any fear.
  9. Oh. AMG has it listed as 'Hard Cores'. I'd love to hear it. Sunny is the shit!
  10. Does anybody know if the Sunny Murray album "Hard Cores" on Philly Jazz has ever been re-issued? And does anybody have info on the Philly Jazz label in general?
  11. I got mine from Dusty Groove Along with the Water Byard Lancaster...good, but not as good as the Gales.
  12. I just picked up the two Eddie Gale's and all I can say is....
  13. Yeah, North Country don't offer much that's for sure...but we went for it anyway.
  14. Well, we recently got distribution through North Country. Organissimo members, do you do this above and beyond any regular distribution you already have or do you do it because you lack National/International distribution?
  15. Is it worthwhile? B3-er, have you sold some CD through these places? I don't want to go through the hassle of sending discs, keeping track, checking back, if no CD's are gonna be sold.
  16. This is me singing Leadbelly's "Man Comin' Round Takin' Names" at a anti-Bush rally in Seattle around 4 months ago:
  17. The Art of Bop Drumming by John Riley is a very good book for teaching jazz kit. http://www.johnriley.org/index.php?section=publications
  18. I think it's funny how we get a little nudge if a thread strays off course toward politics. Threads almost always go here and there and rework into something else, but go toward politics...HEY BUDDY, WATCH IT!
