The first concert I ever attended was in 1979...YES - Tormato Tour! I love that album (and most other YES for that matter). I have to say that 90125 and beyond are not my favs. I dodn't dig Trevor Rabin. Ever hear their version of Paul Simons America? AWESOME!

HELP - What would be the cheapest way for me to order this?

No, that cymbal is made by a company named "Istanbul". What I'm looking for is an older Zildjian K made in Istanbul. It's kind of complicated, but to make a long story short... Zildjian got split into two different companies back in the early 20th century. When Avedis Zildjian started making zildjian cymbals in the USA back in the 30's, there was still a Zildjian making cymbals in Turkey. The Turkish company had a contract with Gretsch (so gretsch kits came with Zildjian made in Turkey or 'Zildjian K Istanbul'), but all others came with Zildjian USA or 'Zildjian Avedis'. Avedis didn't like someone else having use of the Zildjian name so through the courts he eventually won back exclusive rights to the name and shut down the Turkish plant. That was in the late 60's. In the opinion of a lot of jazz players, the Zildjian K Istanbul’s have the perfect sound for jazz. You can crash them and ride them at the same time (which as you know is essential for jazz drumming). And now that I have a few extra bucks....I WANT ONE! Anyway, you can identify your cymbals by looking at the etched "stamp" on your cymbals. If it says 'Avedis', then it was made in the US. If it says 'K Istanbul'...well you get the picture.

Hell, even an 18" will do. Do you know a jazz drummer who's selling their stuff? Maybe you are that jazz drummer. Maybe you know a friend? Let me know. I got some extra cash and I'm dyin' for one of these puppies.

I was at that show as well. Wonderful, just wonderful. Malachi had a playful spirit in his peformances - I imaged that's how he was off stage as well. I loved that sound tube he would pick up every once in a while and start spinning it over his head, and his megaphone. And there was a soulful quality to his bass tone that really comforted me. Does anyone (chuck?) know how he died? He looked good in the fall when I saw him. Also, Lazaro you should play the song "Way Way Way Down Yonder" from the album 'Sightsong' that he did with Muhal Richard Abrams. That track is one of my all-time favorite bass solos. Sad. I hope he had a painless and peaceful passing.
