  1. I'd set 'em up side by side. If your family makes jokes about it, it hopefully won't last too long!
  2. Let's face it, Art Farmer was a motherfucker! I'll be getting this set w/ some birthday $ I'll be getting this month. Can't WAIT!
  3. Hey jeff, are you looking for the Japanese version of the liner notes, or the English one. I have the latter and you can borrow it if you want to. Matt
  4. Played drums on Start Me Up? Are you shittin'?!!! I love that track!
  5. Damnit, B3-er, I can't help but smile when I see that kid of yours!!!! What a cutie!
  6. I don't agree w/ the sentiment that Miles didn't like anybody else that was successful. He liked Sinatra, Hendrix, Prince, Ahmad Jamal...etc. I think that a more erudite explanation would include OP's style.
  7. Was that Mr. G's spit, or that of passers-by? I would have hacked up a logie for G!
  8. Good news! Special K-eep it up!
  9. Mark, I think that "Common Touch" is in a used bin down the street from me for $7 or $8. PM me if you're still needing it.
  10. Idrees Sulieman's solo (track#(?)) on the Hawk's "The Hawk Flies High"....is pretty impressive from that standpoint. He holds a note for many a chorus. I wish I knew how to do that shit!
  11. Sun Ra-Sound of Joy on cd and Zoot Sims-The Bethlehem Years lp
  12. I'm so there!
  13. I can't stand the term "Pay it Forward", or the term "decadent" to describe desserts. Actually most cliches get on my nerves.
  14. Throw the book at me for this one. Lets see. I remember losing the case to the Verve Elite "Listen to Art Farmer and the Orchestra" (the cd was in a case logic holder) for about a year. It finally showed up again when I pulled a book out of a stack to be read, thus revealing the cd case. Also there have been many times when I haven't been able to find a disc for at least this long because I've doubled up in the car. This is always a good feeling, and I usually end up spinning the one that's been missing.
  15. That's a tough one, not having heard the group, or you play. Maybe I'll have to shoot by one of these jams. I live in Pdx, too. I guess I'd say only play on the tunes that you feel that you know, unless it's a simple blues or something. Observe the rules of etiquette for jam sessions, which have been written about here, I think. The free association thing can work, too...I mean everybody uses quotes sometimes in their improv. Yeah, it's too tough to make any meaningful suggestions w/ the limited info. I'll try to come by. Oh, yes... Practice!
  16. Well, I put down 16-20, but that was before I read that selects counted. I have 20+. I love 'em all like they were my children. OK, maybe that's too extreme. But I do value them highly.
  17. Happy Saxophone Birthday Vagina.
  18. I thought that I'd mention this sale. Their stock isn't huge, but the deals are good in this sale. They do have some Steeplechase titles that are usually higher priced. I don't work there. Spend some more money, make your wives happy!
  19. T-Mac, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Lebron, Carmelo, Kirilenko...that's a pretty stellar cast of guys who entered the NBA in their teens. And that's a short list. I'm not saying that forgoing college or leaving early is a formula for success...but I'd have to say that it's becoming less exceptional nowadays that guys come in early and are ready.
  20. Ravi told me that one of his younger bros is playing rock guitar.
  21. Happy B-Day, Allan! ! !
  22. Happy B-Day to you.
  23. Did anyone say Carol King, or Townes Van Zandt, or Nick Drake?
  24. I forgot about Neil Young, and Marvin Gaye. Both geniuses IMHO.
  25. Joni Mitchell, Elliott Smith, Laura Nyro, Wayne Shorter. In no particular order.
