  1. Hey Jeff, Best of luck w/ your move and evolution. You have a Monk print comin' when you get there. Thanks for your generosity, and we'll miss ya'. Matt
  2. The titles are: Lennie Tristano/ the New Tristano--Rhino, a few very superficial marks on cd, plays great $7 Wayne Shorter--Wayning Moments 24 bit, bluemoon w/ mono alts., small coffee stain on sleeve, (about 1.5" x .25") $7 Trades also a possibility. US shipping included.
  3. I pick that the guy in the above photo won't be getting any tonight.
  4. The news of this break-up has given me a new lease on life. I can't believe how bands like this appeal to so many people. It's so fecal.
  5. Agree w/ ya', Brandon. The very qualitites that are mentioned as unappealing in KD and Booker Little... IMHO, give them accessibility and emotion in their playing. Not the "brassiest" sounding players, but there was much more going on.
  6. Well, I miseed the Kelly/Chambers. I don't feel too badly about it, though...as I just couldn't afford the M.F.. I also have most of the music (minus the alt. takes) and will be getting the Strozier date on cd (I have it on cassette ). Congrats to those who pulled the trigger. I'm sure it's a nice box.
  7. Joni Mitchell--Court and Spark, Nautilus 1/2 Speed Mastered
  8. Not every artist had a dud. Gigi Gryce?!!
  9. Man, I hope you're right!
  10. Mmmm, the old "Lie to my wife for me" scenario. That's the worst! Slightly away from the topic of Mosaics, but....I have a friend who buys musical gear compulsively and has asked me to tell his wife that I gave it to him for working for me. At least when I said "no", he understood.
  11. Cory Weeds owns the Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, B.C.. He's a helluva dude, but I've never heard him play. Thankfully, those guys are coming to town in a couple of weeks. I'm SO there!
  12. I know that these aren't on your list, but I'd consider getting "Impressions" and "Africa Brass" early on, as they might get your ears ready for the really out stuff on your list, i.e., Sun Ship, Interstellar Space, Kulu Se Mama. Both have Eric Dolphy, too.
  13. I get Mosaic Guilt sometimes, too. I usually medicate myself by listening to the music with a nice bottle of spirits. And then when the guilt passes, I listen again, and again....for years, which turn into decades....No more regrets.
  14. It's sort of a "big band" called March Fourth, a Burlesque-style thing w/ 10 horns, 9 drummers, a bassist, and dancers (stilt walkers, fire dancers, etc.). Definitely a big group of folks, but not your traditional big band. We do play Monk, Strayhorn, and other tunes that keep my interest. It's a "party" , but not the most musical of projects.
  15. Gig, after gig, after gig. I'm playing the Folklife Festival in Seattle tomorrow night, then binge-drinking w/ old friends until as late/early as possible. Saturday, playing back here in Portland w/ a singer & songwriter, and then doing a big band gig early sunday evening followed by a Reggae gig later that night (I need the $). I'm just really glad that I have ON-DEMAND so that I don't have to miss the Sopranos!
  16. The right leg wrap around must make for deeper thrust.
  17. The original poll had only one flaw, that it was poorly worded. The poll about it was IMHO....ill- mannered. This one, not too bad!
  18. You might want to check your spelling before going down this road!
  19. Good one. 8 of 22? I guess the clinician may have helped, say...Madsen?
  20. Happy B-day, B3-er!!
