  1. Well, I miseed the Kelly/Chambers. I don't feel too badly about it, though...as I just couldn't afford the M.F.. I also have most of the music (minus the alt. takes) and will be getting the Strozier date on cd (I have it on cassette ). Congrats to those who pulled the trigger. I'm sure it's a nice box.
  2. Joni Mitchell--Court and Spark, Nautilus 1/2 Speed Mastered
  3. Not every artist had a dud. Gigi Gryce?!!
  4. Man, I hope you're right!
  5. Mmmm, the old "Lie to my wife for me" scenario. That's the worst! Slightly away from the topic of Mosaics, but....I have a friend who buys musical gear compulsively and has asked me to tell his wife that I gave it to him for working for me. At least when I said "no", he understood.
  6. Cory Weeds owns the Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, B.C.. He's a helluva dude, but I've never heard him play. Thankfully, those guys are coming to town in a couple of weeks. I'm SO there!
  7. I know that these aren't on your list, but I'd consider getting "Impressions" and "Africa Brass" early on, as they might get your ears ready for the really out stuff on your list, i.e., Sun Ship, Interstellar Space, Kulu Se Mama. Both have Eric Dolphy, too.
  8. I get Mosaic Guilt sometimes, too. I usually medicate myself by listening to the music with a nice bottle of spirits. And then when the guilt passes, I listen again, and again....for years, which turn into decades....No more regrets.
  9. It's sort of a "big band" called March Fourth, a Burlesque-style thing w/ 10 horns, 9 drummers, a bassist, and dancers (stilt walkers, fire dancers, etc.). Definitely a big group of folks, but not your traditional big band. We do play Monk, Strayhorn, and other tunes that keep my interest. It's a "party" , but not the most musical of projects.
  10. Gig, after gig, after gig. I'm playing the Folklife Festival in Seattle tomorrow night, then binge-drinking w/ old friends until as late/early as possible. Saturday, playing back here in Portland w/ a singer & songwriter, and then doing a big band gig early sunday evening followed by a Reggae gig later that night (I need the $). I'm just really glad that I have ON-DEMAND so that I don't have to miss the Sopranos!
  11. The right leg wrap around must make for deeper thrust.
  12. The original poll had only one flaw, that it was poorly worded. The poll about it was IMHO....ill- mannered. This one, not too bad!
  13. You might want to check your spelling before going down this road!
  14. Good one. 8 of 22? I guess the clinician may have helped, say...Madsen?
  15. Happy B-day, B3-er!!
  16. I was lingering after a Rasheid Ali gig a few weeks ago, talking to Ravi Coltrane and Jumani Smith (a great, young trumpet player) about improv., and all kinds of other shit. The subject of Woody came up...and a few minutes later Ravi comes out of the back room w/ an iPod looking thing w/ headphones and lays the fucking Holy Grail on me. It was 20 minutes of Woody Shaw practicing. Man, he had so much control over that horn, be it on arpeggios, patterns, anything...it just blew me right the fuck away. As a trumpet player, I was mezmerised, inspired, and terrified!
  17. Maybe he was just a surly bastatrd (the employee) , or he wanted the book...(?). Or maybe Wood had done something... peculiar.
  18. O.K., Eric, or Aric...do you want to trade me something for it? As for the sheet of acid scenario, I can only imagine the result of you finding this would entail some form of abuse of the shift-key, and many more non-linear posts!
  19. . Imagine the feeling of opening this mint condition baby up, & the warm sound of the first track "Box of Rain" livening up your night. No pops, hiss, or nothing. Jeff, it will depend on which first pressing you're offering!
  20. Hi Folks. Anyone need this baby? It's a cut-out, w/ a 1/2" saw cut on the top right corner. I don't listen to the Dead, plain and simple. But I know that some of you do. I welcome any trade scenarios.
  21. Well I'll be damned! I think I saw one of these on eBay a long time ago, and completely spaced it. Should've swooped. AAARGH!!!
