If Beale Street Could Talk

That's what everybody says. 2 of the things that bothered me were that I didn't get who had killed Thursby & the Macguffin turned out to be a "worthless lead fake" & only a plot device. Obviously none of that detracts from the film's importance for most viewers & critics. And believe it or not, I like film noir!!

Bogart was fine. The rest including the "plot" just didn't resonate with us. I suppose it's all about style, not plot.

The weather has been crappy so we watched The Maltese Falcon & one of the Thin Man movies on TCM. Neither one was terrific!!

Marsella's CD Buer on Tzadik is also excellent.

I don't have that one - plan to get it.

For sure. Saw Anthony live in Encinitas recently. He's still "bringing" it.
