Loved discovering the Lightmen + 1 on this BFT, now have 3 CD's by them, which are all wonderful, thanks so much! I have the Bennie Green also, and it is indeed nice. Thanks, major discoveries for me from your BFT's two years in a row! Nicole Glover last year 😊.

I'm all in favor of the best listening experience (music, SQ, packaging) one can have, based on financial and lifestyle factors. I have cheap equipment but use the one brand of headphones that works best for me (Sennheiser) and 90% of my listening is through headphones. I have a crowded house including an exuberant (and musically gifted - not my genes, our daughter was adopted) seven year old grandson who lives with us, so expensive speakers, etc. would be lost on me, but I'm certainly in favor of them for those who can afford them and have the opportunity to enjoy them. The apparent lack of discographical details in the '54 and '55 sets is a turnoff to me, as packaging can substantially add to or subtract from my listening experience. That's why I'd rather have individual BN CD's rather than a Mosaic set that never shows the original packaging, even if the Mosaic sounds marginally better - trying to recapture the magic of the original release.

Honest question, is the sound difference substantial? If so, I could be persuaded to purchase these recent releases.

BTW, that McDonald & Giles album is quite wonderful and substantial.

Agree on all counts, especially on Darkness. Saw him in 1973 (opening for Chicago at the Spectrum), 1985, and 2002.

That was the case with me. Seeing his No Nukes performance on the Tower Theatre opened me up, and I then grasped his albums much more fully.

Agreed on the BITUSA box likely not happening. It's been a decade since the River box. I don't hold BITUSA with nearly the same regard as the earlier albums, but it was HUGE, so I'm surprised the box never happened.

Agreed, this is absurd. His post-1980 output has had very spotty quality IMO, and these are outtakes!

They were another of the best Paisley Underground groups also along with Rain Parade. Early Green on Red (when Chris Cacavas was in the group) probably completes that list for me. I should check where they are playing in Philly!

These were reissued on three Prestige CD's in the mid-90's. I discovered them then. George Coleman and Kirk Lightsey? Yes, please!

The Paisley Underground was the last rock "movement" I really love (and I only discovered it after the fact), and Rain Parade were one of the best groups in it, and this, 'Emergency Third Rail Power Trip' was their masterpiece. I am listening to the new 2-disc deluxe edition:

There was a book published decades ago about Allan Pittman and Theresa Records, focusing on the difficulties of running an independent label, IIRC . I read it and may still have it around the house somewhere. It was not well written and I think may have been a published masters thesis.
