Will try with Gary first, since he contacted me first, then with Wayne if Gary and I can't work it out. Thanks to both of you.

It's a really good album.

So I ordered what was supposed to be a CD from Amazon UK, but they sent me an LP, which I can't use. They demand I return it to the UK, and the shipping cost net of their refund is prohibitive, to the point where I would show a further loss. I paid $41.83 total for it (talk about buyer's remorse - it was an indulgence as a birthday present to myself), will sell or trade for best reasonable offer, or will take it to ebay if no legitimate interest here in our neighborhood. PM if interested, and I'm sure we should be able to work something out.

Through the kindness of a wonderful individual, I am listening to and digging the Don Sleet "All Members" album with Jimmy Heath and a hybrid of the Miles Davis rhythm sections of the time (1961 - Kelly/Carter/Cobb). Marvelous album, but Sleet truly stands out. I knew nothing else about him, but come to find that he played with Stan Kenton at like 16 years old, did recordings with Lenny McBrowne I need to track down, etc. Any other thoughts on this marvelous but mainly forgotten musician?

And for a couple of them (Liebman, Holland), it did. But definitely looks like one of those "whole is less than the sum of the parts" cases, given the fascinating front line. I wouldn't mind owning it, for time and place sake, but not at $25-30.

Tom, be sure to ping me when it becomes available. I may well be interested.

FS/FT: columbia jazz musician press kits
felser replied to felser's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Thanks Ken, that's helpful to know. Tom, send me your address, and I'll send it out to you gratis. I'll hang the Shorter on a wall myself, and don't anticipate anyone here being interested in the Marsalis. -
Ran Blake and Jeanne Lee, The Newest Sound You Never Heard 1966-67

2016 RCA Canadian import with the bonus tracks has been readily available in USA. https://www.ebay.com/itm/JEANNE-LEE-RAN-BLAKE-THE-NEWEST-SOUND-AROUND-NEW-CD/382255776013?epid=220883762&hash=item590038410d:g:pZcAAOSwLNVap53L:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true -
Agreed. Also lead me to Rendell/Carr.

This, their first two albums on one set. Karl Jenkins and John Marshall went on to Soft Machine around Soft Machine Fifth (Marshall) and Six (Jenkins). https://www.amazon.com/Elastic-Rock-Well-About-Later/dp/B0000072M0/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1547342683&sr=1-1&keywords=nucleus+cd The set with their third and fourth albums is also well worthwhile, with Allen Holdsworth (also later of Soft Machine) showing up. https://www.amazon.com/Solar-Plexus-Belladonna-Carr-Nucleus/dp/B00006CY64/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1547343035&sr=1-1&keywords=solar+plexus+belladonna

Per Mr. Sangrey's cogent post in the wish list thread, I fear it will just be more Binglerosey, and that the Strata-East was my last Mosaic set.

One of my very favorite Adderley works.

Coltrane '58: The Prestige Recordings
felser replied to ghost of miles's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I reallylike the three smaller Prestige sets that Fantasy put out right before they sold out (in every sense) to Concord, and settled on those and sold the big 16-CD set. So no need for this, which appears to be selling for about $70. I also really liked the Miles Davis Prestige Classic Quintet box and the Bill Evans Village Vanguard box they did, and wish they could have finished those catalogs with similar corresponding boxes. Concord certainly won't. -
Do yourself a favor, buy this version, typically great BGO mastering, and save yourself tons of $. This will run you about $$15 for the two-CD set.
-
So sorry. I just finished working through the big ECM AEC box, which heightened my appreciation of him/them even more. Giants.

If Stephen Stills was dead, he'd turn over in his grave (unless he's getting royalties for it, of course).

The Hoffman Forum, where every issue of every recording ever is a rare and valuable collector's item... -
Then I stand corrected, thanks.

There is a boot order set into the bios of the machine, telling it what order of sources to try to boot from. They tend to default to external drives first, the reason being that if your hard drive crashes or becomes infected, the machine can be recovered from an external boot disc.
-
Yes, it may be initially trying to boot from that external drive, which of course ain't gonna work.

Lloyd McNeill was/is another renaissance man, award-winning photographer, college professor, painter who studied with Picasso, and flautist/composer who made some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard, especially "Aisha". I have the ESP-Disk Watts, would love to hear the Savoy. Surprised it never made it to CD. I owned that Savoy 'New Music: Second Wave' set on vinyl in a previous lifetime, but don't remember much about it.
-
It got handled, Organissimo board style. Something for everyone, those who made the connection (I did, and thought it was very funny), and those who didn't. All good.

What operating system? How much free disk space? How much memory, what processor? Is it a really old machine? If an old OS, do you defrag the machine? Does it run slow after it comes up?
