  1. As for those Miles radio recordings, are you sure they are bootlegs? (I haven´t got them, so I can´t quote their source). They may be concerts previously broadcast that years later were sold to a label by the XXX Radio Company and subsequently released on CD (i.e. the "Dexter In Radioland" series on SteepleChase).
  2. Well, many ebay sellers of Mosaic sets include the set number... ... maybe a palindromic set number would sell better?
  3. I don´t think you´re right, Flurin. To my knowledge, Jazz Unlimited is part of Storyville Records. I have a few Jazz Unlimited issues, such as the wonderful Fats Waller´s Complete Associated Transcriptions two discs release, and no trace of "doubtfulness" there. Look at the newly designed Storyville website: http://www.storyville-records.com/Default.aspx?tabId=2621 Anyway, Chris Albertson could clarify.
  4. Thanks for the info, Chris!
  5. I couldn´t agree more, Lon! There´s a lot of early Blue Note output waiting to be reissued!
  6. This is not a joke, but something real, as told by Danish saxophonist Jesper Thilo in his autobiography: <<Duke’s orchestra was in town (Copenhagen, Denmark). Jesper’s phone rang: “ Duke wants an alto sax for the band tonight”. Jesper was thrilled: “Great, he said, I’m coming right away”. “Don’t bother to come, just send the saxophone with a taxi”. >>

  11. Just noticed that this auction has been removed. Wonder what happened. Maybe the seller has second thoughts. Strange! Last time I checked it, winning bid was about 4.800 USD, with two days left.
  12. One I know (dont't know of any other) is right next to the main square of the southern France village of Marciac where a jazz festival is held every summer. WM is an invited participant there every year. Did a quick google and could not find an image! Since July 2006, there´s a statue of Wynton in the Spanish town of Vitoria, where he has played plenty of times. http://www.elpais.es/articulo/agenda/homen...lpepiage_3/Tes/ Those crazy Spaniards!

  23. EKE reporting back: I´ve already received my order from Puppy Jazz. Mixed feelings: their catalogue for small independent labels focused on "older types of jazz" is excellent, and with very reasonable prices (I don´t mean bargain prices, but compared with other distributors, their prices are more than OK). But, while service has been fast (less than 2 weeks from US to Spain), packaging was really poor (a single bubble envelope with no additional cardboard or anything is no good for six CDs) and most of the jewel cases arrived with big cracks. But the music is GREAT!
