Yes, I second Audacity. A long time ago I used Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack. It is flawless for capturing audio, into whatever format you want. I see it is $49 for license. Still worth it.

The prices usually drop before the release date. The Masterworks does look good, as the Ozawa.

True. I never said that the Hubbell is a game changer. I said it did something that made my listening experience more enjoyable. For all I know it is a darn good outlet that has better made parts where it counts -- at the connections, both in the wall and from whatever machine I am plugging into it. Like I said, this was the only "snake oil" audio upgrade I can accept. No green markers on cds, no rubber cones that I rest my component son to reduce vibration, etc. And I would never pass onto others any dubious claims of audiophile nirvana. For around $20, it is a nice little thing to try out. The true highway robbery is when other companies take this product, cryo treat it, slap their logo on it and sell it for close to double or triple the price.

Maybe we should look into what goes into the construction of an outlet to resolve this disagreement. Because it connects BETTER than a cheaper outlet.

I have Scott -- communicating through forums can be challenging, especially when talking abstract, like I tend to do. I actually wouldn't think you were sniffing glue if you told me those things. I'm not at all saying the Hubbell is a magic audiophile component. I'm just saying it seems to do something better. Like locking in on a radio signal, instead of slightly on the side where the signal is good but slightly muddy. Quicker, if that makes any sense. More efficient? Less magnetic interference? I can't properly define it, but I can hear the difference.

That was an interesting sequence. "It's the same, but…different!" No, that is not what I am saying. It doesn't make my stereo warmer or clearer; it has a stronger audible presence. At the same volume level the music comes out stronger than before. Keep your snarkiness to PMs. It suits you better.

I'm sure he did. Hate to break the news to everyone, but "hospital grade" power outlets won't change the sound or performance of your system one iota. Hospital grade outlets are simply designed to be more durable and create a tighter and more secure connection so that a potentially life saving device doesn't come unplugged due to a loose connection. It's a building code spec. It does not change the power supply at all. It does not improve the power at all. Nor does it have any bearing on the performance of anything plugged into it. So, unless you have old or cracked outlets, or loose connections where your device plug either arcs, or falls out of the socket by itself, you are spending $20+ on outlets that are going to do nothing more for you than $2 outlets from your local hardware will. I'm going to surprise you, Scott. This is the one bit of snake oil that I buy into. A $20 Hubbell sounds a LOT better than a $2 hardware outlet. I've heard the difference in my own home. The reason may simply be better parts construction -- the Hubbell is heavier than the construction grade outlet, and has the same screw connections for the wires to ensure tightness. The Hubbell apparently is used by other companies who cryo treat it and sell it for $60 - $100+. The difference is a stronger soundstage -- not wider. That's it. I'm going to look into the Tripp Lite Isobar, and see how their warranty works.

Shit, I was looking at a Tascam myself, since my venerable Harman Kardon Cdr20 kicks the bucket this past year. I dropped in to hear about opinions and all I read are fellow members flinging poo at each other and masturbation???? I'm going over to the Hoffman board, where I hear they are large and yes, spectacular. And possibly find out more about this player/recorder.

Chicago mail service is erratic at best. Once I had sent a box priority mail to Chicago, and it arrived two weeks later. Another time I shipped media mail and it arrived in two days. Doesn't matter -- Dusty Groove, a camera repair shop I had used, customers from ebay. Chicago was just weird with mailing. But I can also see, given the people who work at Dusty Groove, delayed shipping and other miscellaneous stuff. Once my credit card was charged for items I didn't buy -- and not through the store. Someone from there took my numbers and decided to do a little shopping. This was many years ago.

Then Sonos would be a better option for those seeking a high networked solution.
