    Leon Spencer - Legends of Acid Jazz is good, but not the prog flavor that you are looking for. Melvin Sparks - Legends of Acid Jazz an excellent cd, but again, more greasy goodness than prog. Freddie Roach - Lots of soul and grease, but not what you're looking for

    Why not look for older turntables? A Dual 1009, Elac Miracord or similar can be found on Craigslist or ebay for under your price range.

    I have it and it is well worth it. No real outtakes, just a complete overview of his early 70's atlantic sessions. The liner notes are in French.

    While not a comic book, the anime Cowboy Bebop uses a lot of jazz elements in the series. I am not an anime fan, BTW, but this is a wonderful show. Wayne Shorter is a Green Lantern fan.

    I'm thankful that I am even able to hear this music at all. But I find the Sylart reissues to be very good in sound quality.

    I went to Target and picked up the bonus disc. Earlier this year I came across a nice original lp copy of Exile, and was blown away by the sound, which was more "alive" sounding than subsequent lp pressings.
