  1. Lon, I did almost the same with my tax return money. Except I went and got this: Sounds exactly like the Bose system, except for less than 1/2 the cost. Loving it so far - there is punch to the bass, and the highs are clear. Can get freakin load as well.
  2. Thank Christ for the Bomb is my favorite. I had no idea that the group lasted for so long (3 + decades?)
  3. Highly recommend the De Falla for those who love Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain.
  4. Can you get the foam replaced?
  5. Saw this yesterday. Loved it, but definitely NOT for young kids. Starts off like an Ealing comedy, becomes the Wicker Man, then explodes into a big finale like Bad Boys. Crazy, but it works seamlessly.
  6. The Select 3 disc set, not the OOP 12" box
  7. Cosa Nuestra The Good, the Bad, the Ugly Asalto Navideño Crime Pays El Juicio Conciones del Solar Siembra These from the recently remastered stock.
  8. Taiyo Yuden makes quality dvd blanks as well.
  9. Does he want to play in his home town? Maybe he has priced himself out of the clubs, and the concert halls aren't certain about him drawing abig audience. Wait, wasn't there a Lincoln Center concert some years ago with him or was it using his compositions?
  10. Yes! This is a mandatory addition to any latin collection.
  11. The era of buying cds is rapidly coming to a close.......
  12. Somehow, I missed the email announcing this reissue, which came out in late March: James Brown Singles 2
  13. Got both cds in the mail. Early 90's masters, not Ron McMaster, but done in Japan. Lawrence Marable's Tenorman is great! Correction: The Kelly is Japanese remastered, the Marable IS McMaster. Both sound fine, regardless.
  14. I got the same notice. They're bailing on the deal.
  15. I'm there for 10 bucks.
  16. Susanna Clarke's "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell."
  17. The Kelly and Marable cds are on their way! I can't tell you how long I have been looking for these!
  18. wynton kelly's piano interpretations lawrence marable - tenorman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. One more: John Scalzi, who has a small body of work but is being compared to Heinlein. Old Man's War is a fun read!
  20. John Wright's The Golden Age Trilogy - One of the best future tales I have EVER read. Quite an imagination and innovative as well, even though the second volume is padded a bit. Charles Stross' Accelerando
  21. If this is as good as you say, JSngry, I'm picking this up! I have listened to their work since their first cd -- I think they had an album as the Daktaris on a funk label in the late 90's? Loved the funk and the NuYoriquan influences on the Fela vibe, but always thought they were enthusiasts of Fela's music, and not making their own sound. See them live though and they are a different band.
  22. But if you like them, what does it matter?
