  1. Yes, I've seen plenty of fine to mint condition Mainstream lps -- at least during my record hunting days some years past in the DC area.....
  2. "No idea what it is worth" -- ?? Clearly, he does, given the starting price. I hate to think the fees he'll have to eat for putting it online.
  3. Yeah. I can see potential vultures picking apart the catalogue for their own reissue labels, downloads, etc.
  4. Came home yesterday, this was in my mailbox from Saturday: AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Ah yes, thanks! Tunnel vision today.....
  6. Did anyone go to the concert last night? I wish I had been there.
  7. No drops from the holy wine?
  8. From the same label I posted, the same group did a two cd "complete" version as well, with dialog. It is excellent as well, though it changes the context of the music a lot. I had that Unicorn set, Chuck. It was a fine set!
  9. Playing Steven Bernstein's Diaspora Blues. I'll have to pull this out; it is a killer cd from 2002 on Tzadik.
  10. They are actually pretty good. Made by Herge's studio, I believe. Basically animated versions of the books.
  11. Covers the "handling" fees...............
  12. Now with Dizzy Gillespie.
  13. Great Reggie Workman bass playing in a duo live date at the DC Space!
  14. Beautiful! 9 pm - an interview - with Sam? - in the 70's talking about the loft jazz scene.
  15. I haven't heard it yet, but I will get to it once I have the files sorted out. George Lewis would be another fine subject for WKCR or someone to do a focus program on; what little I have heard (a Sackville recording, some others) there is some great thought and feeling to his playing. A lot of the 70's loft scene is not to everyone's taste. However, when listening to Sam, I hear echoes of his playing on Blue Note, but more far reaching.
  16. Wow, a live concert at the DC space! What a venue that place was. And now its a Starbucks......
  17. Now there is a Sam Rivers tentet recording from 79.
  18. Later this evening, Sam Rivers at the 5 Spot. A rebroadcast of the Hal Galper interview 2am. An interview with George Lewis 4 pm tomorrow.
  19. Yet another exclusive WKCR trio broadcast from 76.
  20. I would have loved to have heard the complete NY Loft Jazz festival that they apparently aired in the early 70's.
  21. Sweet Jesus, it gets better. Apparently a 1962 recording with Sam Rivers will be played in the next hour, originally done on WGBH, provided by Hal Galper. This precedes any Blue Note recording he has done.
  22. Yes, the marathons are part of the tradition of WKCR. The artists and day vary, with a few exceptions (Louis Armstrong, for example). Right now they are playing a trio broadcast from 74 that was done at the WKCR studios. Damn!!!!!
