  1. Salman Rushdie - Shalimar the Clown
  2. I agree with felser. Three sounds better than a previous cd release I had, but still sounds like the high ends have been cut off -- like CEDAR remastering. Four sounds fantastic.
  3. Could be something like they got the sets, and discovered that there was a pressing error, or something similar. It's never an easy or quick process, especially for an independent company.
  4. Naaah, they are really boring dates. The Mainstream lps are way better and funkier.
  5. I liked the Pierre Monteux version on RCA, the late 50's stereo version. Dynamic!
  6. No, they are not like the Mainstream lps. They're mediocre dates at best.
  7. Newbury Comics is a great seller.
  8. No it doesn't.
  9. Still halfway through the first box........ gotta get it going!
  10. Perhaps it is the shipping service that Mosaic uses. Based on my own experiences of selling items on ebay to overseas customers, airmail prices are very high, whether it is the USPS, or other services.
  11. The best Bond film, period. On top of that, a great action and thrilling spy film! We forget how much of a hard boiled character he was, unless you have read the books.
  12. This is a nice album with Connors as a leader:
  13. This Eddie Palmieri cd is a classic!!!!!
  14. Devious Honeywood Slim
  15. Damn that looks good! But it is too rich for me......
  16. I'm amazed I'm still conscious. Lost the truck, got a new car. My girlfriend feels that we are better off just being friends. My office is being moved from a beautiful sunlit open space to an underground pit with no windows, low ceiling and rumbling traffic from the street overhead. Everybody's stressing. But instead of crawling into a shell, I feel pretty good about myself and life in general. This is a change for me, a good one. Just a lot of things happening at once.
  17. Classicstoday has a two part article on the story: Hatto
  18. Y'know Jim. I didn't want to say anything, but when I saw you guys play up in Baltimore I did raise an eyebrow when you were doing this Liberace move on the keyboard, in an attempt to disguise the fact that you were switching cds in the sound system behind you. I should have known -- Joe and Randy not only sounded like Grant Green and Ben Dixon, it WAS Green and Dixon!
  19. Calling on the grapevine to see if anyone has this cd, for sale or otherwise: Waterloo - First Battle PM me if so.
  20. Wow. A lot of old fart comments in this thread.
  21. I've ordered lots of things from Caiman -- imports and domestic, rare and not so rare. Never had a problem, and quick shipping.
  22. No, I went to CarMax in Dulles VA mid January. Great service and helpful in determining my options. Did the extended warranty on the car, but it is in great shape. I have heard 6 cylinder engines on the Camry have had timing belt issues, but not the 4 cylinder, so I went for that. Loving it so far. Nice leather seats, automatic (as opposed the manual that was on the truck), sunroof, power everything and a real stereo system. Cup holders too! ABS, and airbags all over the place.
  23. Update. Bad news - truck was declared totalled. Good news - got a nice Toyota Camry from Carmax. Painless! So far, my insurance company has been great. Still waiting for the hammer to come down, but so far so good.
  24. Beleive it or not, the Smithsonian has a large collection of Joseph Cornells. It is a nice exhibition in the American Art museum that has been rrecently renovated and looking great! I have to toot my own horn and say check out the National Gallery -- there is a big Jasper Johns exhibition of his important works from 55-65, a great diptych show (called Prayers and Portraits), and a show that I just completed, Paris in Transition - a collection of photographs from 1850s to 1920s.
