  1. Zowie! So, was that a new numbering series for flat records? MG
  2. See if you can get this one It seems to be on Amazon, but it was originally on CD Baby. Lonnie Smith's greatest album. Iive in Weeds' club in Vancouver or somewhere else in Canada. Bloomin' fantasticoreenie! MG

  6. Oh goodness! Well, it looks like there are four of us (though, if I'm not mistaken, Paul Secor is, as well, which makes five). I have 2 LPs - 'I came to preach a sermon', which includes 'I don't need no doctor', and 'Jesus is in town', which includes the 45 Jim posted of 'A Prayer'. And I have two radio programmes Jeff sent me. I didn't know there were CDs. I'll have to look to see what there is. There was an LP I never saw called 'Sleeping in a dangerous time' which should be valuable. RIP Hurricane. MG
  7. Michael Cox Michael J Cox Michael J Fox
  8. Didier Pironi A J Piron Sister Kate
  9. I always liked Torsten and Axel Zwingenberger - citizens of Swing City Torsten, the drummer, has short hair and is 4 years younger than Axel, who plays piano, though you wouldn't think so. MG
  10. Ernie Andrews recorded for GNP, too. And he produced the Lionel Hampton live recording for Decca, from which 'Stardust' came. Surprised they didn't mention that in Downbeat. Perhaps Hamp is 'out' these days. Always something not quite there that you wanted, but definitely good enough. I really didn't know he was still around. Ninety-three's a good age; especially if you live a happy life. RIP. MG

  16. If any of us were Country and Western fans, we'd know lots, no doubt. But here's one of Savoy's Harvey albums. It sez it's a house, but it looks like Harvey was born in a barn. MG
  17. I like some stuff, can't be bothered with other stuff. Much like everyone else I guess. King Pleasure is very nice and 'Moody's mood for love' is wonderful, as is his 'Red top'. Gloria Lynne has done a couple of nice things - she wrote smashing lyrics to Kenny Burrell's 'All day long'. She recorded it twice; on her first album, 'Miss Gloria Lynne' (Everest), and her penultimate, 'This one's on me' (Highnote). MG
  18. Big Jay McNeely Big John Patton Big Maceo
  19. It surely isn't curmudgeonly to say that he won't play Monk 'cos he can't sell it. They're ALL in business to sell music for money. MG

  21. Lotte Lenya Lottie Haas Letta Mbulu
  22. Goodness YES!!!! Happy Birthday, to Sweet Poppa Lou. MG
  23. Yes, I'm only getting the 'MIsc non political' thread. Hum. Pain. Well, there's gonna be a way. Leave it to Jim S to work it out :D MG
  24. Jean de Fleur Florestan Trio
  25. Yeah, I found the same thing. Looks like you have to hit the 'Activity' box, near top left, then you get a lost of threads that seem to be in reverse date order. MG
