This thread is making me want to play some discs from my Louis Armstrong box. I have never been to New Orleans. I need to go there some day.

I've purchased most all of the RVGs that have been issued by Blue Note. This is due, in most cases, to the fact that I don't already own these titles. And, the RVGs are better than the 1980s McMaster re-issues. In many cases, however, I don't believe Van Gelder is 'the best' at the art of remastering. Yes, I know many of these recordings were recorded, initially, by Rudy Van Gelder. However, I don't believe that Van Gelder is ALWAYS the best at the art of remastering in the modern day. Ron McMaster is better sometimes. In regard to Fantasy/Concord, I have no desire to purchase RVGs of titles that have already been made available in the K2 format. I believe the K2s are VERY good and, most of the time, better than the RVGs issued by Blue Note. Please, leave the RVGs to Blue Note. It's been a terrific series. However, I prefer to purchase Fantasy reissues that have been remastered by Tamaki Beck and Shigeo Miyamoto.

I'd rather have more/new K2 remasters done by Tamaki Beck and Shigeo Miyamoto. These two gentlemen, in my opinion, are generally superior to the current product offered under the RVG name. I wonder if Concord will continue the K2 series with the remastering done by Tamaki Beck?

I believed the Anita O'Day box would have gone OOP many days ago. Yet, it's still available on the Mosaic site. Get your copy while you can (I guess).

Yes. This will happen to me regarding the O'Day set. It will happen when I least expect it. I will have a treasure trove of new music to explore. It will be a good day.

When the Anita O'Day set went to Last Chance on the Mosaic site I was not in the mood to purchase the set. It's a set that I'd planned to purchase 'some day.' Anita O'Day is my second favorite female jazz singer. Make no mistake, this is a set I've desired but just hadn't had the enough desire to purchase yet. I was planning to make the purchase when my mood was right or when the set was moved to Last Chance. My Anita box arrived last week (or was it the week before?). I played the first couple of disks and a middle-of-the-set couple of disks. The music is good and Anita is good as expected. For whatever reason, I've not been in the mood for vocal jazz in recent days. I don't know why. My report on the set, so far... The first disk, while it does sound like Anita, has more of an easy-listening, jazz, pop edge. For example, Anita covers two songs that don't seem real jazz-like. These songs are 'Rock & Roll Blues' and 'Vaya Con Dios.' While Anita does well with these tunes, they aren't exactly jazzy. As the set progresses, starting 'round the middle of disk two, Anita evolves into more of a jazz singer. While playing one of the disks from the middle of the set I got a smile on my face. I thought, "Yeah! Her name is Anita O'Day, with a capital 'O.' The one and only." I believe this is a good set of music. This is a Mosaic set that I'd definitely been disappointed to have missed. Unfortunately, I'm not in the mood for vocal jazz as I type these words. I look forward to finding deeper revelations in the weeks to come.

I'm 39 years of age. I'm in the middle of all the ages. I'm middle-aged! I agree. Via my personal obervations of the happennings where I'm employed. Those folks over 40 years of age tend to be more dependable and less sick than those folks under 40.

I live alone. I make the mess. I clean up the mess. No worries. Fuck.

After too many beers I can't be sure. Errr... I don't believe so. No. On the other hand, what are all those white spots on my black tile near the toilet? Oh, fuck. Fuck me.

I mean, I can't figure it out. Whether I need to stand up or sit down to do my thing... I check the location of the toilet seat first. I place it where it needs to be. There are no surprises. I don't know. Maybe this is one of the MANY reasons that I still live alone?
