  1. Holy moly. And what did I GET for my birthday, you ask? A new battery for the Jeep (from my parents). I appreciate the 'beer/therapy' pic Weiz. It's been working for me for years. Party on.
  2. Get the Horace Parlan Mosaic if you don't already have the tunes it contains. It's one of my favorite Mosaic sets.
  3. This sort of thing from Blue Note is nothing better than ridiculous in my opinion. Blue Note is selling a 'specialty' product in that it's selling jazz to the few of us who still enjoy and purchase jazz. Blue Note desires that we who purchase jazz continue to purchase jazz versus other means of obtaining the music in the modern day (to which I completely agree -- I'd rather purchase the music and own the genuine article). At the same time Blue Note fails to prove a trustworthy source for the product it delivers. The company charges the regular price yet provides a defective product. I don't recall the CDUniverse web site advertising the latest Blue Note RVG titles as 'seconds' at a discounted price. One of the defective Hank Mobley covers might be a collector's item some day, however.
  4. I almost pre-ordered the new RVGs from CDUniverse. I decided to wait to see if the disks were copy-protected, mis-printed or other. I wonder how many of the disks have no label?
  5. If I had to sell my jazz collection (including my Mosaics)... maybe I'd acquire enough money to buy another Jeep?
  6. When I see Angelina I 'see' her Dad. As a result, she gives me the creeps.
  7. I'm tellin' ya... this REACH OUT! thing. It's not Hank's best. But it's a damned good set of tunes. I catch myself playing it all the time.
  8. Easterly Winds is just a damned fine session to me. I recommend it highly. My review is located here: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...ndpost&p=243949.
  9. Are you kiddin'? I have to raise my maturity level while present in the chat room.
  10. Bwaa haaa haaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Got Money Jungle, SS1? Got scotch, BFrank?
  11. BFrank, CONN500 and SS1. They all make fun of me in the chatroom. However, I've been enjoying the weekly abuse.

    Pandora.com

I discovered this site just this evening. I'm listening to those who sound like Merle Haggard. http://www.pandora.com/
  13. And Wes had all the titles.
  14. Direct from Mosaic is my recommendation.
  15. I'm right there with you, man.
  16. I'm listening to Mobley's REACH OUT! this evening. On a first listen I sensed 'Hank Mobley does easy jazz.' No, it's not Mobley's best. However, something about the easy vibe of the set has caught my attention. I've been through the disk three times in one sitting. Mobley sounds like he's nearly at the end of his Blue Note run (which is true). He also reminds the listener of how great he was and still is. AMG gives the album two stars.

    Joe Morello

I enjoy listening to Morello on Brubeck's 'Unsquare Dance.'
  18. I recently purchased a Sony digital camera. I like the digital camera because the pictures don't have to be developed. I don't believe a digital camera provides the same quality of picture as a film camera. However, I do like the convenience of a digital camera. That said, I don't view a digital camera as a replacement for a film camera. But, follow the money trail. I suppose there's more money to be made in digital cameras than film cameras these days. And, I believe it's time for a drink.
  19. The Randy Weston box is quite a varied set. All the music is unique and good. Weston has, to my ears, his very own unique style of playing. The third disk grows with time.
  20. I'm promising no such thing.
  21. Happy Birthday, man. Where in the 'F' are you?
  22. I'm listening to the Blue Mitchell Mosaic as I type these words this evening. Sometimes the Blue Mitchell Mosaic sounds, to me, like too many 'Sidewinders' in the same box. Tonight, however, Blue's middle-weight horn is speaking to me.

    Lou Rawls

I'm trying to remember. Did Lou Rawls play a part in the TV series Roots?
  24. I spent the Christmas Day with my parents, sister, nephews and an old friend. My parents gave me some Staun tire deflators.
