  1. I ordered my Boogaloo Sisters last week but it's not been delivered yet. I'm expecting it tomorrow (Monday). Where's my Boogaloo? I want my Boogaloo!
  2. Here's a name I can't cipher the pronunciation of: Tom Evered. I mean, I can understand the first name. But, what about the last name? Is it pronounced like EVER RED? Or, possibly, does it rhyme with fevered? Anyone?
  3. Rick: Your writing style is clear, descriptive, informative and to-the-point. Errr... maybe you shouldn't lurk so much?
  4. I was considering selling my extra Moncur disk. Then, decided to keep it to see if it has any value in the months/years to come. Not that I really care that much about the money, I suppose. I purchased the Moncur box for the music, not the investment. On the other hand, the disk may have value amongst jazz snobs.
  5. I was reading through a thread at the BNBB, maybe a year ago, regarding Hank Mobley. The discussion was about how, at the end of his jazz life, Hank was playing with used/borrowed saxophones that leaked, etc.. The discussion evolved to a description of a picture of Mobley at the end of his tenure. Somebody wrote something like, “Yeah, I saw that picture and he looked like shit.” Does anybody know this picture or a link to it?
  6. I question if the 'price drop' might be to compete with the lower price of the RVG series? Or, might it be an attempt to keep selling product in light of reduced music sales and a slow economy? I may have to go to Borders today and see if they still have the Russell. Damn.
  7. What does ‘stop time’ mean? On given jazz recordings, in the liner notes, the writer will sometimes mention ‘stop time.’ I found a ‘stop time’ quote in the notes to Sonny Side Up. In describing the tune ‘I Know That You Know,’ the liner notes say, “I Know That You Know begins, after the ensemble, with Rollins stop-time solo. Dizzy takes flight and Stitt ends the solos."
  8. Have you considered Johnny Griffin's Blowin' Session? Hey, it's even a Blue Note product! B)
  9. If the Organissimo board remains active we are better off. I haven't had this much fun since my initial discovery of the BNBB!
  10. Thanks. You and your brother are providing an excellent service with this page. I believe this is the best jazz-discussion site on the internet. :rsmile:
  11. Maybe I missed it in an earlier post? But, Use3D, man, who are you? I remember you posting on this board from its very early stages (like, just a week or so ago?). A couple of nights it was only you and I keeping the board active into the wee hours. I remember you entering a post saying that you didn’t know much about the subject on this board but you thought the people were cool. I just noticed, yesterday, that you’re a moderator on the board. I’m not complaining. Whatever you’ve been doing, it’s been great so far! B) Were you on the BNBB and I simply never noticed? Are you a friend of b3-er? Or what?
  12. AfricaBrass: You're good with the artwork. I enjoyed Norah Jones with the moustache.
  13. Hey! Maybe my life isn’t as dull, after work, as I thought it was? I’m not married so I can do whatever I want. Unfortunately, sometimes what I want is to be with that ‘special someone.’ It seems you always want what you don’t have. I purchased a new laptop last Thanksgiving. When I’m at home the internet is nearly ‘my life.’ The computer is on the kitchen counter when I’m in the kitchen and on the cushion beside me when I’m on the couch. I even use the damn thing, monitoring this board, right before I go to bed at night. Sad? I go running three nights per week, eat dinner at my parent’s house one night per week, then visit a long-time friend, usually for dinner, on Friday nights. It seems I’ve used 5 nights of the week but the routine has become dull, nevertheless. Jazz and the internet are the highlights of my life. B)
  14. An excellent point about a dreary dark day. I agree completely. The more it rains the better the jazz sounds. Except, I live in Tucson so dreary days are few and far between.
  15. Are these remasters (with the K2 process)?
  16. But, my goal is to bother the moderator as little as possible in regard to board maintenance. B) Wait, are you a board moderator now? Have you always been? Just wondering...
  17. I have the same dumb (at least, dumb to me) question but didn't want to bother b3-er with it. I assume he's already busy enough with this site. In spite of this, maybe we'll get an answer/solution out of him. I did purchase his Boogaloo CD.
  18. I looked at the Russell yesterday at Borders. Is it the one that, on the back, says it will be issued till a certain day in the year 2006?
  19. Yes. It is! This board shows how rustic the BNBB software really was.
  20. I keep figuring the BNBB was not important enough, to Blue Note, for the company to give it the slightest bit of thought, positive or negative. Conversely, it was important enough for Blue Note to limit it, and then shut it down completely. Blue Note holds a high spot in jazz history, for sure. I like the music, the history, the ambiance of RVG, and the album art (Blue Note had the best album art). Unfortunately, I’m describing the Blue Note of old. The modern version of Blue Note is simply a brand name tied to the EMI conglomerate. I’ll continue to purchase the Blue Note product because I like it. However, the days of Lion, Wolff and RVG are only a distant memory.
  21. Do you mean people who have big heads physically? Or, people who have big heads mentally?
  22. I want to see the toe!
  23. I live in Tucson and I'm a night person. I tend to stay up late every night (usually waaaaaay too late) playing on the computer and listening to jazz. Tucson is on Mountain time during the winter and Pacific time during the summer. Yeah, go figure that one out. No matter what time I log-in to this board, SOMEBODY is posting/reading, whatever. Like JSngry wrote, in another post, this (Organissimo) is a great after-hours hangout. When do you sleep?
  24. http://www.menwholooklikekennyrogers.com/ Heh!
  25. See what you started? Now we'll require a Hank Mobley smiley, and a Wayne Shorter smiley, and an Art Blakey smiley, etc. Hey, could be get a Greg smiley?
