  1. Beloved platter of mine ....
  2. Could you pls share some memories - especially regarding the musicians building the rhythm section ....
  3. Outstanding live performances from March 1978 ..... Art Pepper excels on both uptempo material and performs some heart-wreching ballds .... of help to achieve these heights is his alter ego aka Milcho Leviev on piano - and bass master Bob Magnusson (IMO) never performed better .... originally released on vinyl and later as CD via Storyville
  4. Cult series for sure ....
  5. Recurringly eulogised here - and rightly so ....
  6. Selfimposed excessive expectations btw self-adulations aside albums with the Herbie Hancock Quartet or "Black Codes From The Underground" were (IMO) quite hearworthy ....
  7. Tend to believe Art Pepper himself was not chasing but hunted by his own demons .... probably around the time of his Village Vanguard recordings the roughness in his playing prevailed but rather shortly thereafter lyricism and masterful balladry broke trough (again) which highlighted a number of recordings until his death ....
  8. Do understand your rating still - to throw in some positive perspective - the cover pic reminds me of the times when this platter was a new release, some excellent "neo-traditionalist" sessions were issued and even some expectations regarding the future of Wynton M. were feasible ....
  9. Gold by the participation of Wilbur Ware ....
  10. AMEN ....
