  1. Yeah, I was thinking Buick too, although I was thinking the very sexy Century might fit the bill.

  4. I don’t know if my frame of reference is large enough to be able to label a record as “Overrated”. That said, Hank Mobley’s – dippin’ and Freddie Hubbard’s – Hub-Tones have never really done much for me. They both have some “fun” tunes, but I’m not really compelled to spend a lot of time with either of them.

  7. I would caution you against doing this. After a thread similar to this appeared on another site, an ebay dealer that was slammed threatened the owners with legal action if the posts weren't removed. I would hate to see this happen to our friends here. Maybe this is best done in private. I would second the motion. Bill

  16. I would think it is quite the opposite. If you listen to the records folks like Jimmy Giuffre, ShellyManne, Teddy Charles, Bob Brookmeyer and Shorty Rogers were making in the early to mid 50's they are already messing around with ideas of free improv. To my ears the traitors would not be those who stopped exploring like Giuffre, but folks like Shorty Rogers. That said you have to have some respect for a guy that titles one of his records, The Swinging Nutcracker.

  20. My tinnitus use to range from simply annoying to screaming loud. Last year I had a cholesteatoma (cyst in the inner ear) removed from my right ear and had the ear bones replaced. My hearing is greatly improved and I no longer get one ear infection after the other. The ringing still comes and goes but is nothing near what it use to be, although even when it was bad, there would still be times when it was better and worse. Unfortunately I don't think there is a silver bullet or consensus on what to do.
  21. In order of preference. WL Weller 19 year - my absolute bar-none favorite. Smooth Mellow Complex Perfect, Black Maple Hill - Oh so nice, but very hard to find Eagle Rare - Half the price and twice as good as most "Top Shelf" bourbons Russel's 10 Year - a solid B+ Wild Turkey - Rare Breed is ok, I just like a little more mellow/carmel flavor Woodford Reserve a good drink, but a tad overpriced in my book Blanten's here again a "good" drink, but way overpriced to my taste Evan Williams - just ok Whiskey River - Pass The cheap WL Weller (I think it's 80proof) is my favorite of the under $16 bottles. Although not bourbon, I do enjoy the 80 & 90 proof George Dickel. Unfortunately I live in Washington, which has state liquor stores. I don't mind the high taxes, I just wish they had better selection, so I depend on my folks in CA for the good stuff. That should keep you busy, if you can stay conscious. Bill
