John Wick 3 - Chad Stahelski (2019)
Big breathless action extrazaganza with a meagre storyline but oodles of badass fighting.
Never a dull moment when John Wick's in town.
Enjoyed it, especially the dogs.
Rocketman - Dexter Fletcher (2019)
Messy kaleidoscope of high energy song and dance clips loosely connected by events from his life.
Felt a bit Ken Russell like on occasion. Admired some of the film making but can't honestly say it was satisfactory.
McCabe & Mrs Miller - Robert Altman (1971)
Reagan was the evildoer in The Killers. I read that he was so upset that the role tarnished his image and damaged his political chances that he tried to get the film withdrawn and or destroyed. Personally I think he played a great bad man, in fact it's his only role that sticks in my memory.
I think the Coen's also referenced that scene in Burn After Reading.
Interesting that Lee Marvin & Angie Dickinson met up again in The Killers Don Siegel remake.
Been listening to bits and pieces of these 3 discs.
Much more rough and ready than the pristinely produced studio albums but that's not a bad thing.
Neil Young does a great take on Ohio.
