  1. Red Joan - Trevor Nunn (2018) Judi Dench is detained by special branch and questioned about her role in leaking nuclear secrets to The Soviet Union during the war. The bulk of the film is told in flashback with , obviously, a different actor as the young Dame Judi. And that's where everything goes wrong, big time. Weak and underpowered, it never gains any momentum and is , sin of sins, boring. Dame Judi is great but the rest of the film is pretty woeful.
  2. 100 pages in and going strong.
  3. I Am Mother - Grant Sputore (2019) Classic SF, well worth your time.
  4. The Tale - Jennifer Fox (2018) Great cast and an extraordinary but disturbing story that constantly switches between past and present. Laura Dern is especially praiseworthy. *** This is a pretty explicit and unvarnished look at child abuse and should be avoided if the subject is a no go area for you.
  5. John Hart plays brilliantly. A great guitarist imo.
  6. Mother Of George - Andrew Dosunmu (2013) Me too. The characters are all great, especially Seymour.
  7. Disc 8 Sal Salvador Juicy Lucy
  8. Ghost World - Terry Zwigoff (2001) The Passionate Friends - David Lean (1949)
  9. 2nd listen to this. Really appealing vocal styings.
  10. Shutter Island - Martin Scorsese (2010)
  11. Killing Them Softly - Andrew Dominik (2012)
  12. Letter From An Unknown Woman - Max Ophuls (1948)
