  1. I was gonna mention the Tolliver disc too, but Sangry beat me to it. This probably isn't what you're looking for, but for what it's worth - there was a one-off concert that Sun Ra did with strings, probably in the mid 80's or so. About a dozen string players, if I remember right. I'm pretty sure it's on Leo, and the AMG review of another (different) Sun Ra disc mentions that the Leo release "Pleiades" has about a dozen French symphony musicians on it, so I'm guessing that's the one. (No AMG review for "Pleiades" - however.) No time to check up on it now, I'll look again later tonight.
  2. Just came into this UK two-fer (on one CD) via a trade. My first time hearing "Soul Man" with Wayne. Only listening to it for the very first time this afternoon (hence my new Avatar), but damn - what a great date. LOVE that version of Wayne's "Tom Thumb". Funkay!!! B)
  3. Except Herbie on "Speak Like a Child" and "The Prisoner". And speaking of Herbie... ...how about Wayne for this thread?? The tunes he wrote for Miles sure are incredibly distinctive, as as nearly all of his other tunes (at least in the 60's - I'm less familiar with his tunes after about 1970). Same with Herbie, for that matter.
  4. My mother was an audiologist by profession (and also taught audiology at the college level). I'm pretty sure this record is still down in my parents' basement somewhere.
  5. Check out the small black print at the bottom: "From the makers of..."

  7. I was a teenage maltshop!! (couw oughta get that reference)
  8. Also looks like the cast to a 70's porno...
  9. An alternate cover for Miles' first album by his second great quintet...
  10. I'm sorry to say that I think this one probably goes next in the sequence...
