For them, most assuredly. I was half in the middle of trying to post my thoughts on this, and the other rash of discussion related to this topic - and I suddenly gave up, realizing I really didn't give much of a fig what the outcome of any of this was.

Oh, I remember that disc. I thought it sounded truly bad - and I'm normally not one with that much of a critical ear about recording quality. I think I kept the disc for a year, and then traded it off. REALLY bad SQ - as I recall.

I think there's a band around here that calls themselves Dirt Nap. Always thought that had a nice ring to it. Another clever one I've seen listed recently: Onward Crispin Glover

Looking through an old Pitchweekly (free weekly rag), there was a band here back in Sept. called "Child Pornography".

Wow, what a great/weird name for a band!!! I think there's a band here in Kansas City named "Hairy Apes BMX". I don't think this next name is particularly absurd, but "The Band that Saved the World" is kinda fun. Great idea for a thread!!!!!!!!!!!

No one in particular. This is one of those threads where I haven't paid much attention to who said what, because I just read the thread and absorbed the things being said. I certainly didn't mean to bash anyone in particular. I just wanted to say that Undergroundagent is a decent enough guy, and that anyone who reads this thread (or the other one), shouldn't think otherwise.

On a serious note. I've traded a whole bunch with Undergroundagent (both here, and back on the BNBB), and I will gladly do so again in the future. He drives a hard bargain (as most of us who have traded with him before can attest), but he's a good guy - and he's never caused a deal with me to go bad. People need to chill out here, and all this 'Undergroundagent' bashing should stop. So what if the guy's a little direct with his PM's, and a little light on the emoticon usage. That's just the way some people are.

Man, I cannot wait to hear that Smiths tune done up Organissimo-style!! Seriously, stuff like that has a way of getting you noticed by a new audience. Although I was weird and picked up on Radiohead from hearing Brad Mehldau cover "Exit Music For A Film" - I think many more people discovered Brad from originially being Radiohead nuts (and those were people who weren't all coming at Brad's music from the jazz side of the world). Similarly, Jason Moran and Greg Osby have each covered different Bjork tunes on a couple of their BN releases. The Bad Plus have covered Nirvana and Blondie (on disc). Dave Douglas covered Rufus Wainwright and Bjork too (on disc). And Geoff Keezer has covered Radiohead too. And, our own Trumpet Guy (Phil Grenadier) has covered Radiohead and Fiona Apple. So, if the Smiths tune goes over well on the Organissimo 'board' disc, you might want to consider including it on your next 'official' (meaning 'real') CD. Seriously.

I'd call my own Dad, but he lives just outside of St. Louis, where I grew up. My folks are here in town this weekend, actually. And my Dad is gonna help me (really, I'm going to help him) install a new electrical outlet on the outside of our house, running new wiring from the inside to the outside. Every time my Dad comes to visit, I put him to work doing something - usually electrical. Last time we (he) installed a new grounded outlet in our 2nd bedroom, for my computer to plug into - without having to run an extension cord all the way across the room. These old houses rarely have more than one or two (at most) electrical outlets per room, it seems. Our house was built in 1922, and it is our first house too. Again, major congrats on buying your first house, Free. Do give me a call sometime, if you ever need someone to point and snicker when you discover you've done something wrong, cuz that's about all I'm good for when it comes to home DIY.

Well, then I officially retract my former statement about Undergroundagent being Canadian. I'm sorry (there, I said it – are you happy now???). I'm sorry I felt I had to bring something like that into this whole mess. I stepped over the line, and I promise not to let it happen ever again.

Oh yeah, that's right. After I clear my cashe (which I do about once a week), I have noticed that AAJ does give me a "today's topics" link.

There are a handful of titles in the Naxos Jazz series, which are very good. And at $6.99 to $7.99 a pop, they are very cheap too. I'll look through what I've got, and make some recomendations. I know I have at least two UMO Jazz Orchestra discs on Naxos (which are both great), and four or five other titles - all of which escape me at the moment.

"Today's Active Topics" all the way, for me. That way if I see a topic that hasn't had a new post, but is one I looked at previously - I'm sometimes reminded to check the thread again, especially if it's one I had thought about posting in earlier, but didn't at the time. Often I wish every board had a "Today's Active Topics" button to push. AAJ, for instance, only has "View New Posts" - which means any thread without a post that's new to me (based on my cookies), never gets displayed more than once in the list of topics that I'm browsing. I think using "Today's Active Topics" (and having that as an option) increased the chances of people posting in threads they already looked at before, but didn't post in at the time they were first looking at them. For instance, there's a "Kansas City" board I'm on, and I rarely post in any topic that doesn't come up in my "View New Posts" results. And as a result, if I don't post in a topic when I first look at it, I never see it again until somebody else posts in it. (I rarely go browsing through the forums.)

Undergroundagent is somewhat 'direct' in his PM's and e-mail communication, and occasionally his tongue is a touch on the sharp side. But I have had probably more than half-a-dozen trades and deals with him in the past (and back on the BNBB too) - and I have never had a bit of trouble with him. To suggest that he be banned because of a PM that wasn't the least bit offensive (though, perhaps a bit curt), is silly. Buy from Undergroundagent with confidence; he's generally a decent guy. Well, considering he's a Canadian and all.
