  1. Yes, I'm afraid so, too .... just wasn't sure you and others posting here were aware that this thread was initially on something different.
  2. There you are, the white one (as the Lost Quintet is suitable for newborns, if played loudly): That is, the white one of those on the right side. The ones on the left side are older versions.
  3. Haven't received mine, either ... never got any update or saw anything about a shipping date, so I'll just wait and be surprised. But I just got "Walk, Love, Sleep" a few days ago. No time (and mood) for it yet though.
  4. yadda yadda yadda
  5. Indeed: Link Sure, and it's mighty fine! But this thread was about a totally different Rivers set.
  6. In the vernacular of we "'merikans" as you call us, it's "ya get what ya pay for". Sure, enjoy the music. Hell, even feel free to be ecstatic about the low price you paid. But don't think for a minute that you or anyone else is owed a free ride from anyone in any business that endeavors to make a profit, especially ones in the music industry. Even Chuckie's out to make money, and if you think he's entirely in it to "give" to us fans, you are simply fooling yourself. You want a better booklet from Sony, ya gotta be willing to swallow and say 'ahhhhhhhhh'. Gee, did I ever get ecstatic or even comment on the cheap price? I would certainly not have minded to pay twice as much for this very same package without swallowing or saying ahhhhhhh! Okay? Get it?
  7. Yeah, or you just don't get it ... whatever that means. Or the other way 'round. Zunderopsi, as I say in my vernacular.
  8. My point should be self-evident. My point is that YOU do not get the POINT. "Stop worrying about what you didn't get, and enjoy what you DID get". It could all go away in a flash, and then, WHAT? So I am not allowed to criticise, huh? That's a weird position that I will, sorry, never ever share, no matter what subject it's about. I am very happy about both MD Bootleg releases and I clearly said so. That however does not mean I'm not allowed to voice criticisms on minor issues such as packaging, at least not in my opinion. I should "enjoy what I DO get" ... as I said, I do! "It could all go away in a flash" ... yes, it could, but I think it was a point you made that they're obviously making money out of this AND I am a paying customer, so I really don't see why I should just shut the fegh off as you tell me to. What's that crap that you merikins always carry proudly in front of you, to defend, for instance, burning crosses in front of black people who mistakenly found their way into a home in a white neighbourhood? Some amendment or some such ... I don't give much for that ... but I will always voice criticism and consider that part of being alive. Bread and butter, so to say. But that's, for me, the end of this silly discussion.
  9. I'm not Colin obviously, but I assume he meant "New Soil", which is excellent ... ... has Byrd on it!
  10. I looked through his discography and tried a google search - both with no luck. I never find anything on that site ... could you post a link, please?
  11. Thanks for those details ... no, didn't know much about it yet, as I only heard the music but hadn't ready any liners yet. Will have to dedicate some time to that next time I grab some George Lewis, I love that music, but still don't play it all that often.
  12. Dude, what's your point?
  13. coming up on DG, can't find any details on their site yet: The John Eliot Gardiner Collection, 30CD, amazon.de pre-order EUR 62,99 could be mighty good, no? all I have is what's in the DG Baroque box (mainly Monteverdi's wonderful "Orfeo", but also some Schütz, Bach etc.)
  14. the tetragonisation of crap, probably - sorry, but there's really no need to put liners on the back of a poster in order to put that - fold to the size of a regular CD booklet - into a slot that holds a booklet ...
  15. shit! will dig up some of his music, always seemed to like him somewhat better than all those who found him "academic" (whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean)
  16. Happy birthday! Just saw her in the movies, singing the title song in Otto Preminger's "Bonjour Tristesse". Definitely one of the film's best moments!
  17. maybe after all we should invest here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/461687407/kickstarter-open-source-death-star
  18. Did anyone actually ever compare the Mosaic and the two discs with some of the same material on American Music? I was overjoyed to find the Mosaic some time back, but then didn't like the discovery that I've already owned a substantial part of it ... and just stacked the discs away then ... How come, anyway, that material ended up on American Music and Blue Note?
  19. I can relate to that very much ... it's a mighty fine and swinging album, but something that's there on the Philips albums is definitely lacking here. Couldn't say quite what it was, but that's how I always heard it.
  20. Mal Waldron with Woody Shaw and Charlie Rouse .... or with Jim Pepper. (Only "Crowd Scene" with Sonny Fortune has been mentioned so far, I think.) And thinking of Mal Waldron: ragged, but I like it!
  21. :tup Julian Dash, too!
