  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. PM sent, looking forward!
  3. today: Roy Eldridge discs 6 & 7 then to prepare for the newly arrived Herman Select, the V-Disc 2CD Hep set
  4. phew, just got my shipping confirmation (not exactly... but that mail were they state that the order has completed and will ship within 24 hours...) :excited:
  5. I'll do, thanks! Wasn't aware of that recent good prize, but I think half.com doesn't ship internationally anyway... Now I'm looking forward a lot to getting the Hodges and Prima/Manone, though (I still wait for a shipping confirmation, though...)
  6. This is an excellent list! Yup, sad that J.A.W. has left this place... not that I know much about blues, but I have a print out of that list somewhere, just in case I ever feel like exploring more of this!
  7. Yes, that's what I'm hoping for - the Rich has never been up for a good prize so far, has it? That one will be 80 or 90% new to me! And it should be marvellous! Did you also get the Lang/Venuti? I decided to take a pass, but I guess I'll regret it... will eventually get the JSP at least.
  8. Yes, I'll sure get the Nelson, but I just bought the Quincy, ordered the Herman Select and the Hodges and Prima/Manone, and a friend who dislikes organ is unhappy with the Gerald Wilson... and the Dizzy is in a local store, too, though not for as good a prize as the Quincy... and the tax office has been waiting for months already, so...
  9. I think that's correct, yes. Has anyone seen the Rich in a European/Universal edition, btw? I still miss that one, the Nelson and the Gillespie, never saw them at a really convincing prize (I missed out on the Nelson on UK amazon a few months back, alas)! Oh, and will these newer Universal sets also "time out", even though Universal is also distributing a share? Would that mean of an edition of say 5000, that Universal presses 1000 themselves and Mosaic does like 2000 and when the years have passed, Universal who holds the right will not re-press or as before not let Mosaic re-press the missing 2000? And one last thing about Euro-Mosaics: the Quincy Jones (it's very good!) has even glossier and thicker paper than I ever saw - each and every page is thick enough to be the cover of some glossy magazine... almost crazy! Have the latest US Mosaics also got thicker booklets, or is this one an exception?
  10. Happy Birthday, Wes! Any new Mosaics? Do stick around!
  11. Quincy Jones - discs 2-5 (towards the end of disc 3 by now), maybe after that disc 1, too (i know what's on that one)
  12. Thanks a lot, my cellphone will beep in three weeks to remind me of it
  13. I've never heard "Sweet Rain" so far... sort of always kept waiting for a reissue, didn't grab it (neither the Hamp/Getz) even in local sales, I assume new reissues are unlikely, so at the next occasion I'll pick both of them up!
  14. I remember that when it was running low, Ogun/Cadillac were running out of covers - so some were sold cut-rate without artwork. Yes, I got one of those (thanks to a board member, too) - would anyone be able to offer scans of the missing cover? I asked for that before, I think, with no reaction at all. All I have is a b/w xerox copy of bad quality, you can hardly read it - of course all the info is on the EFI page, but it would still be nice to have a cover for it! It's disc 1 I'd need a scan for, would be very happy if anyone could help! I'd be happy to do that, King Ubu, if you can wait another three weeks. Work is bedlam at the moment - when we get to Easter I'll have the time. Yes, time is not a matter at all, I'll be very glad, whenever you get to it, thanks a lot!

  16. Yes, nothing that changed my life, but it is nice to finally have gotten a chance to hear the Dameron session!

  18. props go to brownie for letting me know about this cheap prize (it's the only Select that goes so cheaply, alas - I saw it in a local store almost as cheap though, but it was opened and has some cuffs... I'd wish more Selects would turn up like this, when they were new, local stores were asking two or two and a half time as much as Mosaic themselves before shipping...)
  19. late to the party, but still: joyeux anniversaire!
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. oh why-y, oh why-y-y, oh why-y-y?
  22. You're not alone on #4, Mike - I found it sweet, but I had no clue either, and it was the first and is (with "Branching Out") still the favourite of Nat's albums in my collection!
