  1. Happy Birthday, Wes! Any new Mosaics? Do stick around!
  2. Quincy Jones - discs 2-5 (towards the end of disc 3 by now), maybe after that disc 1, too (i know what's on that one)
  3. Thanks a lot, my cellphone will beep in three weeks to remind me of it
  4. I've never heard "Sweet Rain" so far... sort of always kept waiting for a reissue, didn't grab it (neither the Hamp/Getz) even in local sales, I assume new reissues are unlikely, so at the next occasion I'll pick both of them up!
  5. I remember that when it was running low, Ogun/Cadillac were running out of covers - so some were sold cut-rate without artwork. Yes, I got one of those (thanks to a board member, too) - would anyone be able to offer scans of the missing cover? I asked for that before, I think, with no reaction at all. All I have is a b/w xerox copy of bad quality, you can hardly read it - of course all the info is on the EFI page, but it would still be nice to have a cover for it! It's disc 1 I'd need a scan for, would be very happy if anyone could help! I'd be happy to do that, King Ubu, if you can wait another three weeks. Work is bedlam at the moment - when we get to Easter I'll have the time. Yes, time is not a matter at all, I'll be very glad, whenever you get to it, thanks a lot!

  7. Yes, nothing that changed my life, but it is nice to finally have gotten a chance to hear the Dameron session!

  9. props go to brownie for letting me know about this cheap prize (it's the only Select that goes so cheaply, alas - I saw it in a local store almost as cheap though, but it was opened and has some cuffs... I'd wish more Selects would turn up like this, when they were new, local stores were asking two or two and a half time as much as Mosaic themselves before shipping...)
  10. late to the party, but still: joyeux anniversaire!
  11. Happy Birthday!
  12. oh why-y, oh why-y-y, oh why-y-y?
  13. You're not alone on #4, Mike - I found it sweet, but I had no clue either, and it was the first and is (with "Branching Out") still the favourite of Nat's albums in my collection!
  14. What about the two Jackie McLean dates with Charles Tolliver? Do the liners in the Mosaic give any info why they were abandoned? The tunes (I just quickly looked at jazzdisco.org, no real research done) were re-done in the later, released sessions. Still, more Mac with Tolliver... maybe there's some salvagable music, even if it's just alternate versions? (Hey, they also put out the pee pee session with Butch Warren... old memories coming up mentioning that... go Booger, go! )
  15. another weirdo here!
  16. You'll love those, I'm sure! I only just got the early Prestige CDs (mentioned in another thread), but the Roost set, the West Coast set, the Clarke/Boland, they're all among my favourites. The Dizzy jams never quite did it for me, though (not even the one with Rollins/Stitt, it's ok, but...) But my later Getz is still rather thing, I have "People Time" by now, one of the two Anniversary/Serenity (always mixing the titles up, which keeps me from buying the missing one, don't want to end up with two of the same), the Rowles Peacocks, Poetry with Dailey - most of these are great, too, but I generally prefer early Getz.
  17. Hm, I recently bought the O'Day Quadromania set and it was all broken - all others so far were ok. I have no clue where I could find such cases here - all I can find for acceptable prizes are slim cases and regular jewel cases (both ONLY at the store at universtiy, other stores charge half the prize of a 100 CDR spindle for 10 friggin' jewel cases, which is madness!), and also 2CD jewel cases with the size of normal 1CD cases - never found anything other than that!
  18. Flurin, the thread was started more than a year ago! oops, I am not yet fully in 2008, didn't notice
  19. Bela Bartok, Bela Balazs?
  20. And what's the great news about the Cohn/Newman/Green? That one's been on the website for so long, hasn't it been out yet? The Jamal is good news, that's for sure!
  21. Hey, there's a DJ in Gainesville with a handle of Jazzbo! MG now lets all go there and be really hostile! (btw: why are these words all so closely related/taken from the same latin word - host, hostage, hostile?! is that all just shades of one thing, really, if you take someone hostage, be hostile or be a good host?)
  22. The other things I mentioned are all radio broadcasts that I've collected (partly I heard them live on the air myself) - good stuff, in my opinion!
  23. ordered mine here, unbeatable prize for us yurpeens: http://www.amazon.fr/Mosaic-Select-Vol-31-...5727&sr=8-1
