  1. I'm not in the market for this, but some might be interested: € 34 at amazon.de (pre VAT deduction)
  2. No bassist on which CD? On the "Tracks in the Sand" one, bassist ist listed as Arthur Phipps - and just in case, it surely does not sound like Mingus at all. Great to hear some more Richard Williams though! Enjoying my first spin right now.
  3. Thanks, that looks like a very cool label! All I have from them so far is a Morton Feldman solo piano disc.
  4. Ouch - what's the name of the label? Or is it still too early to share more information?
  5. If I were a vegetarian, would I need be offended? Seriously: the Peppers were mentioned somewhere, earlier - as vinyl only, I think? Seems of two of them, there are CD editions as well (one is listed LP only in the catalogue, the third as well and that ones seems to be LP only in fact).
  6. That is very cool news! Please keep us posted about further details!
  7. I'll wait for a BluSpec or SHM-CD edition.
  8. now is the time to search for new Bradfords - there a bunch of good ones. Indeed! The OOP "Kampen" from NoBusiness (vinyl only) is very much worth looking for, too ... in addition to "Silver Cornet" that is, which needn't be "looked for", rather than just be bought!
  9. love that cover! r.i.p. Mr. Jeffrey
  10. yay! cover of the year - and some mighty good playing on top of that!
  11. Well, I'm crossing fingers but not holding my breath ... will just keep my CD-R copy of Vol. 2 then. Better than nothing ...
  12. Nice! Some more info here: http://www.fremeaux.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=64&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=1619&option=com_virtuemart
  13. I have a copy on the way (via priceminister.com - european a-sites don't have such good offers and transatlantic shipping costs exploded).
  14. some previous stuff on Perkinson: thought there was more, but this is all that a google search brings up (all, other than some mentions in passing)
  15. Just want to point out a silly claim by Mosaic - "Thanks to Mosaic's ability to bundle collections from numerous labels and archives..." - Universal/MCA/Decca own Commodore. It is one company, one license. the home of Barry Manilow
  16. Wow, intriguing thread that I missed back then (or forgot in the meantime). Just found this (brownie seems to "know his stuff", huh? he sure does!): http://trendy-movie-library.blogspot.ch/2012/04/yusef-lateef-jimmy-knepper-max-roach-pt.html
  17. Yes thanks for sharing your research. Weird that the SHM remasters weren't used for the latest "low-priced" editions. I did a Google Translate search at Universal Japan's site a while ago, and remember reading (re. the Blue Note SHM-CDs) the phrase "final chapter" in regard to this fifth batch. I hope that doesn't mean this series is over! Even if it is, they picked some great titles. (Though Cecil was snubbed.) Hm, so possibly never a Vol. 2 of Hipp @ Hickory House - that would definitely suck!
  18. Damn, lost my post here ... was thinking of other Sanders albums mostly (Live at the East! but there are some more, and I missed that "Love" reissue ... of the Rivers, I've got the LPR reissue). Brown, "Vista", is good news of course! Might also go for the McFarland, have a most battered original of it around, which can, I guess, indeed be considered unplayable. But it's really time for "Streams" to be around - longer than two weeks and for less than 30$, please! And yup, "Club Date" is more from "Live at Pep's" (I think it made up all of Vol. 2 of the old Impulse Master Edition and the bonus tracks of the initial GRP "Live at Pep's" reissue). Probably my favourite 'teef, all things considered - and *great* to hear Richard Williams stretching out! What do experts think, is this again a case (like the recent Trio reissue series, where I missed out, alas!) where one needs to pre-order in order to get anything at all, or will these be around for a few months? EDIT: not quite ... "Live at Pep's" on GRP had side one of "Club Date" in the middle (#4-6): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_at_Pep%27s side two of "Club Date": http://www.discogs.com/Yusef-Lateef-Club-Date/release/369189 plus more (not sure where this might have been out previously or if at all, not at home right now) was on Vol. 2: http://www.discogs.com/Yusef-Lateef-Live-At-Peps-Volume-Two/release/1594621
  19. Good to see Shepp's "Magic of Ju-Ju" on that list ... other than that mostly same old ... why not do some of zhe rarer Sanders and Rivers for a change?
  20. I feel similar ... and might do the same
  21. Growing up is no longer a requirement - guess fashion-wise one could consider Metheny a trailblazer
  22. I'm very much interested in this, provided sound should be okay - but then I guess either way, it should be an upgrade over the Chrono discs. Some terrific music there, for sure!
  23. Someone grab that Jacquet NOW!
