  1. Ah - but does that 'Oblique' have the must-have cover blooper on it? Only if you tick the over 18 box on checkout.
  2. Krul said nothing more than that he knew where they were going to put the ball. Football is war and psychological games are very much a part of tournaments like the world cup. It's just that unexpectedly bringing on a fully prepared two meter tall goalie for the penalty shoot out is unprecedented. As Euro 1988 keeper Hans van Breukelen said on Dutch television last night it's all about getting the other player to start thinking. A penalty shoot out is not a lottery and it was about time the Dutch started behaving accordingly. The Costa Ricans were keen on the match ending in a penalty shoot out from the kick off, and they grossly miscalculated. Van Gaal had anticipated their attitude and for the first time devised a plan instead of attacking blindly and hoping one will go in sooner or later.
  3. Nice photo and sporting sentiments but it's just a shame their team didn't treat him better during the match rather than trry and kick him out of it Yes, I wonder if they would have done the same thing if Columbia had won? Am I the only one here who thinks David Luiz did that to satisfy his own giant ego and bask in all the attention? Dutch analyst Jan Mulder on Flemish television had a similar reaction.
  4. SAL has become increasingly slow and erratic to the Netherlands. I switched back to airmail a few months ago and orders once again arrive like clockwork after four or (mostly) five days (that's including the day the shipping notification was sent, and days not working days).
  5. Yesterday: Noah. From the moment treebeard and the rock monsters appeared I was convinced. This is what it must have been like.
  6. Happenings already sounds better on SHM compared to the RVG and BN Works, but Oblique really shines sonically on SHM. Great album and one of his best.
  7. Yes, he chose the right corner every time. Well done. Van Gaal: “We had discussed it with Tim. He knew about their penalties because he needed to be prepared. It worked out. If it hadn’t, it would have been my mistake.” If I remember correctly, in 1988 the talk was Van Breukelen had a contact who kept note of where every player put his penalties. Van Breukelen had just won the European Cup final with PSV in a penalty shout out against Benfica where he stopped the final penalty. The Costa Rican's coach reacts to the substitution.
  8. Euro 1988: Hans van Breukelen stops penalty during the final. Video Link I can't seem to embed the video directly into this page. Hopefully the video link will work for people connecting from outside of the Netherlands. Below is a photo of the key moment.
  9. The thing that could prevent this wish is that teams with bigger CVs usually get results and yesterday's results seem to go this way also so if Netherlands should be favourites, Belgium on the other hand no matter how ordinary Argentina looked ... It would be fun going back and forth between Dutch and Flemish television before, during, and after such a match.
  10. I'll watch at home. I moved away from Haarlem late last year. Not much orange to be seen around here. Enjoy the match, Page!
  11. Hopefully next Wednesday's semi-final will be between Belgium and The Netherlands.
  12. It's outrageous how top strikers are assaulted during games.
  13. thnx for the thumbs up btw hint reg. "matador".......will reconsider A warning on Matador. While the BN SHMs generally include the bonus tracks from previous US releases, Matador misses the bonus track from the 1990 CD which made it the complete session. I can't see this track being logically reshuffled to another Grant Green SHM. Sound is awesome, of course. Interesting. I didn't miss the alternate. And I don't. Sounds awesome indeed. It's not the best track from that session, that's for sure. No reason not to get Matador on SHM.
  14. Brazil's coach seems confident, but I still somehow expect Columbia to eliminate them tonight if it doesn't come to a penalty shoot-out.
  15. Everyone who owns a Mac that can connect to the App Store (OS X 10.6.8 or later, the current Mavericks is 10.9) can download the new operating system for free. The file you download can be double clicked to install. Alternatively you can make an install USB stick that allows you to do a clean install after formatting the hard drive. This works the same as DVDs used to, only much faster.

  17. As a one time Windows and Ubuntu user who switched to an iMac four years ago, I can't see myself returning to Windows 8. So, here's one recommendation for OS X Mavericks and Yosemite (coming this fall). (By the way, Apple has/will made/make these last two versions of their operating system free of charge. A policy that seems here to stay.)
  18. Even that can turn a bit murderous over here. Look at what happened at Ajax a few years ago with the Cruyff and Van Gaal camps.
  19. The classic Blue Note SHMs have a bit higher volume levels than audiophile releases like the Audio Wave XRCD24s. The Prestige and New Jazz titles do not and neither do the 80s Blue Note SHMs. This is one thing that bothers Hoffman board members like J.A.W. and DrJ about the classic BN SHMs they bought. But if you enjoyed the JRVG of Basra, a disc that Kevin once recommended on the Hoffman board, I suspect this won't be an issue. In the end, I don't regret buying a single BN SHM.
  20. But no hooliganism I hope?
  21. Do you mean this batch, or the classic (50s & 60s) BN albums in general? To me the 80's Joe Henderson State of the Tenor albums show the most remarkable improvement on SHM. After that the Prestige 7000 series and New Jazz SHMs are probably the most impeccable.
  22. Spread your jazz orders. If you place an order twice a week at a North American seller, there will be a steady stream of new music in your letterbox. And you'll be able to do more with your money. I prefer All Your Music.
