  1. Very effective from the Dutch. Great results to come in the knock-out stage?
  2. Despite the draw, you still have a good chance of going through to the knock out stages. That's all that matters now.
  3. By the way, little has been added to HD Tracks's Blue Note section, lately. Two titles, however, stood out for me: Cecil Taylor's Unit Structures and Conquistador!. Please give us SHMs of those!
  4. Ah, yes. Thanks for clearing that up. Quote:"After hearing the results, Michael Cuscuna wrote me to say: “ A major improvement! I think you have it where it needs to be.” To have Michael’s approval on this just means the world to us. Of course, we had also agreed that EMI gets to use this for all future releases of this title. Has all of this work resulted in perfection? No. Is the first track much better than it was? Yes! No, instead of instantly getting hit in the ears with those first two (instantly identifiable) notes swimming in a sea of warble, most will just start easing into a groove that lasts for the remainder of this incredible album." There's also mention in the thread of the piano solo being affected. I'll give the first track another spin now.
  5. .... something else to worry about Like the squeaky Art Taylor drumkit I forgot I'd read about prior to ordering the XRCD24 of Lee Morgan's Candy? Well, I can't really hear it during the first thirty seconds. It would help if someone could tell me at what time it's supposed to occur. I also have the HD Tracks download and can't really discern it there either. Both originate from the new Bernie Grundman transfer, so that shouldn't come as a surprise.
  6. I have Song For My Father on SHM. What's that about a wrinkly wobble?
  7. Famous last words - until Mosaic put some more sets on 'Last Chance' We'll probably buy our last albums after we've drawn our last breaths.
  8. I started with electric Miles and only later Inner Mounting Flame. To The One is a coherent gem of an album imo. Even the synth stuff (two tracks only) perfectly fits. I'm not too well acquainted with what came between original Mahavishnu and 4th Dimension.
  9. Blasphemy! Shrek's Revenge now underway. 1-1! Whaddayaknow?
  10. Blasphemy! Shrek's Revenge now underway.
  11. I also hate guitar synth. There was already a change in sound compared to Floating Point and Zen when the 4th Dimension released To The One, but with Boston Record the sound sound has roughened up a bit (more). Try to download the Montreux duo concert with Billy Cobham from 2010 from that place. Rough sound certainly compared to the recent past.
  12. If only the Tories hadn't cheated you out of a new hearing aid, right? Don't need one quite yet but when I do Led Zeppelin will be one of the bands I intend to sue. Can you wear headphones with a hearing aid? There's a problem I've not anticipated. Listening to hard rock on headphones should qualify anyone for a hearing aid in no time.

  14. Naturally, he's carried off the pitch on a stretcher and the game continues. The more or less set number of extra minutes (30 seconds per substitution, etc.) are to prevent stalling.
  15. They are erratic. I only use them for certain releases like the Audio Wave XRCD24 Blue Notes. It's an advantage of €10 per disc compared to my local record store. Don't order anything heavy from them, for they will wrap even a box set with the same loose fitting thin pieces of cardboard.
  16. I'll pick up through Physical. . . but not beyond. Already have the box set (lp facsimile) and these new ones sound better, but I never listen to the albums beyond Physical. When I feel like listening to rock these days a YouTube video when I'm browsing the internet will do most of the time. I own practically zero rock CDs right now, but I might make an exception for some of these Zeppelin remasters. I don't do youtube, so I still have some old-fashioned rock cds. But more and more it's Hendrix and the Dead for me for most cd rock listening, and I listen to my old rock lps more than cds. I used to be a Hendrix nut in high school. I had some 40 Jimi CDs, official and bootleg. This was before the Hendrix family assumed control. The new discs must be improvements?
  17. i.e., the second side of My Goal's Beyond. That's along the lines of what I was thinking of....but I want more, more, more! He had a pretty good sound on that album with Elvin. Nylon string guitar. There are four more standards on Thieves and Poets (2003). Also an acoustic effort.

  19. Of the first six albums Houses of the Holy is the only one I could never warm to. Achilles Last Stand from their seventh effort is the last great track they released.
  20. This new June batch are listed as limited editions on CD Japan without a cutoff date being mentioned. Any opinions on how long will they last?
