3 Compositions (EEMHM) 2011, a 3-CD set documenting Braxton’s newest composition system, Echo Echo Mirror House Music, featuring Braxton’s long-running septet with Taylor Ho Bynum (brass), Jessica Pavone (viola), Mary Halvorson (guitar), Jay Rozen (tuba), Carl Testa (bass) and Aaron Siegel (percussion) to be released from Firehouse 12 Records. Thank you.

A Tri-centric email from a month or so ago made mention of a third box set (4 CDs) of Echo Echo Mirror House music being released, yet I can only find the Duets and Trio box sets on http://tricentricfoundation.org/all-releases/. Unfortunately, I deleted the email a while ago. Does anyone know when it will be released or still have the e-mail in their inbox?
  3. Viagra in my case.. I guess my google profile must be 'debauched super-annuated boomer hep-cat'. You browse the internet without using AdBlock? Those ads must be right on target.
  4. Mikhail Bulgakov - A Dog's Heart (Penguin Classics)
  5. The contributions of Michael Cuscuna and Ira Gitler to the new Blue Note and Prestige SHMs are chock-full of spelling errors, elisions, etc. You'd think these new liner notes must have been provided in electronic format to the Japanese editors of these booklets, but they look like they were typed into a text editor by someone not too well acquainted with the English language.
  6. The Dutch polder I live in is a few meters below sea level. Luckily, my apartment is on the third (top) floor!
  7. I had never heard of cable elevation and the special elevator sticks. Thank you for giving me a good hearty laugh first thing Monday morning.
  8. That has a really beatiful sound, in my opinion. They're K2 after all. The Riverside album Thelonious Himself was given a horrible 20bitK2 mastering by Shigeo Miyamoto, the person who also did the Prestige box. That Japanese mini LP was quite inferior to other versions, like the Alan Yoshida K2 XRCD.
  9. Sadly, there isn't a really outstanding version on CD. The recent Impulse Originals is way too loud and pumped up imo.
  10. LOL. A single Gillette Fusion cartridge probably lasts at least five or six months for me.
  11. There are some incredibly beautiful McCoy Tyner solos on John Coltrane's Meditations (side 2 of original album).
  12. Rollins' Moving Out is similarly excellent. Impossible to stop listening to More Than You Know with Monk. Between the two of us we have all titles on Alex's list except the Rollins Plays For Bird. I'm wondering how good that album is. I've never heard it on CD.
  13. Probably my favourite Murakami Mine as well. I've read it a couple of times. On the other hand, it's the only Murakami I've managed to finish. I've attempted to read three other books of his. I'm more of a non-fiction reader.
  14. In The Flesh (BBC). The death returned but now they're cured. British zombies, also hard to understand, but perhaps the rotters's vocal cords aren't what they used to be. Or could all British be PDS suffering rotters?
  15. Lester's brother better call Saul. I thought Freeman's Lester was somewhat unappealing and unconvincing until his transformation into a 'predator' really started to get underway in episode six. Bob Odenkirk's Bill Oswalt felt like Bob Odenkirk dressed up as a police officer until last night he became a part of it all. And Collin Hanks should have never worked again as an actor based on his work in Dexter season 6, but is doing alright in this particularly limited role fit for a man with a limited amount of facial expressions at his disposal.
  16. (I responded before and then deleted my post, but...) Alex, you own several of the Prestige SHMs, I believe, so you know how good they are. They have a signature sound/mastering. For me these are definitive CD releases.
  17. The recent Japanese BNLA999 reissues luckily do not sound flat (listening to volume 1 now) and are advertised as 24bit on the obi. Have you been able to compare them? It took me while to warm to the Lighthouse albums. That could be simply down to having so many other new CDs to listen to. I find Mr. Jones still a bit underwhelming. I have higher hopes for the earlier studio albums, a lot of them being available as SHMs now. I'll get to those later this year.
  18. Haruki Murakami - The Wind-up Bird Chronicle (unabridged Dutch edition)
  19. Did a lot of King LPs have alternative cover art? This album was first released in the BNLT series, right?
