  1. We have only twelve provinces.
  2. NSA be damned, I was going to get a North Korean nuclear reactor instruction manual.
  3. Don't most newly registered accounts end up in validation hell? Even people who do not appear to be spammers end up never getting posting privileges. I thought this might be a way to keep out non-musicians (like myself). I had to register twice to get my account accepted.
  4. I bought the Miles/Coltrane 1960 Concertgebouw release from the Dutch Jazz Archive earlier this year. Not the best performance of that tour and not as well recorded as the (officially released) Paris, Stockholm & Zurich dates.
  5. Thanks. We're currently hard at work. Now I'll finally be able to get some floor speakers again (and upgrade my amp) in the near future without causing a riot.
  6. Happy Thanksgiving to all American board members!
  7. Received mine today. It must have been costly shipping these globally.
  8. I almost bought the hardback a while ago when prices started to drop on amazon.co.uk. They still don't have the paperback in stock, but amazon.de has it for €42,95. Would make a good holiday present for myself.
  9. Last week I found a new apartment so I won't order any more CDs abroad until after I've moved (two to three weeks time). After that this series will be a priority for me, hopefully throughout next year if the series is continued with a monthly release schedule of 25 discs.
  10. Anthony Williams - Autumn Wayne Shorter - VousVous Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Tax Not Included Andrew Hill - Shut The F... Up John Coltrane - Blue Trane Hank Mobley - Thinking Of My Profile Wayne Shorter - Brown Dwarf
  11. First listen on NPR.
  12. There's currently one watcher, and he's consulting his accountant at the moment.
  13. Thanks for bringing that up. Checked online blurb and it looks right up my street - put an order in. Just finished the last but one David Downing novel which is set in late '45 in Berlin and across southern and eastern Europe against the backdrop of the mass migrations and the Jewish routes to Palestine. I teach the Cold War to 17-18 year olds so books like this provide constant new information and anecdotes. Can recommend this one I read last year that overlaps though covers a longer time period: After I finish Savage Continent I'll probably order the following recent title which has been getting good reviews. Amazon.co.uk
  14. I guess the parrot sketch will not be included?
  15. I listened to Miles Ahead in stereo (from the Complete Albums Collection) a few weeks ago. It sounded lovely, but sometimes one channel would show a bit of tape damage, then the other. Something you would only notice on headphones. I was hoping the mono tapes showed no such tape flaws.
  16. The inner cube with the thick bubble plastic and the box set inside has a sticker with a barcode and numbers on it that lead me to believe that this is the way these sets are stored in their warehouse.
  17. If it's any consolation, they'd have to throw the parcel from a fifth floor window to damage the box set with this kind of packaging.
  18. There's not much in the way of bonus content on this set that hasn't been released on CD before. The only thing of interest beside eight albums not being released outside of Japan before, is that all Japanese CD releases of V.S.O.P. The Quintet: Five Stars, their only studio album, used alternate takes of Skagly and Finger Painting. This is the first time the LP versions of both tunes are released in digital format (along with the alternates).
  19. A Windows restore point?
  20. Where would they fit Dedication? Or would they split the album up?
  21. Strangely, I'm quite partial to some of Herbie's disco stuff but then I guess that's just me I've got one of his twelve inch singles filed away somewhere. And I remember seeing him strutting around on BBC 'Top Of The Pops' with vocoder round his neck doing 'You Better Bet Your Love' or something of that ilk.. http://youtu.be/SEtS2cRWjOk
  22. Congratulations to Mr. Taylor.
