  1. I bought a ticket for the Charles McPherson Quartet's Bimhuis concert next March, but I do not yet have any of McPherson's albums as leader. Are the two Xanadus a good place to start? Do the CD reissues have good sound quality?
  2. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Indestructible (Blue Note 75th anniversary SHM-CD)
  3. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Mosaic (Blue Note 75th anniversary SHM-CD) Lots of Art Blakey today.
  4. Octobass has a range so deep it goes lower than humans can hear.
  5. I noticed this particular release has new remastering. The description over at CD Japan for the earlier Warner SHM-CDs from 2016 says "Features new remastering if it comes from Parlophone." Which artists/albums would that be? Wikipedia is not really helpful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parlophone I hated the earlier Warner Japan jazz budget releases, but Warner can release great remasters when they want to. For example the Tim Buckley (SHM-)CDs exclusive to Tower Records Japan from earlier this decade, and Herbie Hancock:The Warner Bros. Years in the US.
  6. For those who have seen the mind-bending pure genius episode 8 of Twin Peaks season 3, here is an interesting fact about the music Lynch used in a certain important scene. For everyone else MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD: link.

  8. What to say of Twin Peaks season 3 episode 8? Here is what The Guardian said and it's true: Twin Peaks recap: episode eight – the most mind-melting, majestic outing yet After this bewilderingly brave and groundbreaking hour of television, David Lynch has outdone himself. What an unforgettable journey ... what follows is so mind-meltingly brave and groundbreaking that’s it’s arguably the most avant garde piece of mainstream television since the show’s initial run.
  9. I picked up a copy of Ambrose Akinmusire's A Rift in Decorum: Live at the Village Vanguard at Concerto in Amsterdam today.
