He owns a ranch because he's rich as hell. I believe that if you're a super-rich actor or "journalist" it's some sort of law that you have to buy a ranch.

I like "Fingers" by Airto also "Virgin Land" I would dearly love to see them both reissued. Also along with the Joe Farrells that were mentioned I would like to see Farrell's "Canned Funk" reissued.

I agree with Michael Fitzgerald that some groups for whatever reason don't sound nearly as dynamic in the studio as they do live. It's just one of those things I guess.
I was in an airport one time and I saw Van Johnson going by. I had no problem recognizing him but Elsie would have been easier to spot and in that airport she wouldn't have been terribly out of place.
I played Duke's "Star Spangled Banner" and "Take the A Train" from the "Live From Newport" cd while I was on the air today. Musically speaking Duke Ellington represented America in the best possible way.
Actors make their living usually being someone their not and I can understand how that could get the better of someone. Brando was very good at what he did. Brando was a character both on and off the screen.RIP.
