  1. I had a C3 that was played by McDuff for a week stint here in town and I never cleaned the keys. I wanted that McDuff greaze to stay there!
  2. BTW, I have a Hammond CV that says "Lyon & Healy" on it, so sometimes the organs were rebranded for marketing reasons, I suppose.
  3. Wow. I'm speechless.
  4. Hi and welcome! Not knowing too much about the CME UF8, I'm assuming it is a master controller. Does it have multiple MIDI outputs? Does it have "preset" buttons so you can change external sounds quickly? It probably does. What I would do is take one of the MIDI outputs of the CME-UF8 into the XK3 and set the CME to output MIDI channel 2. Then I would set another MIDI output on the CME as MIDI channel 4 or 5 or whatever (something greater than 3) and have that hooked up to the MU-128. Then save presets on the CME that correspond to what you need: Preset 1 could be organ on the CME. Preset 2 could be a string sound from the MU-128, etc. Now, if you want to play both organ and the MU-128 from the CME at the same time, that can get a little tricky, but still can be done. Basically you'd take a MIDI out from the CME, plug into the MIDI in on the MU-128, and then take the THRU from the MU-128 and go to the organ. Set the CME and MU-128 to channel 2. (I think you also have to change the XK-3 from "in1/in2" to MIDI 2 / MIDI 3 somewhere in the menu system... I don't recall exactly where right now but I could find out by hooking mine up if you need...) Now the XK3 "lower manual" and the MU-128 will sound together from the CME. If you need just organ, turn the volume down on the MU-128. If you need just the MU-128, push all lower manual drawbars in on the XK-3. This is basically how I run my Motif Rack ES from the XK System, although I have it MIDI'd to the upper manual. But both the XK3 and the Motif are "on" depending on the preset I'm using, but I can just turn the Motif volume down if I don't want it playing at that moment. That's also why I keep the Motif Rack on top of the XK System, off to one side... so I can grab that volume knob when I need to. Hope this helps!
  5. No, I don't think they should get paid. Nor do I think universities should be allowed to make mucho $$$ off them.
  6. OK, that sounds reasonable... but where is Big Sid Catlett then? I would say late 40's, early 50's at the latest, but 1942 is too early, imo. Stafford had a hit with that tune (The Gentlemen is a Dope) in 1947, so it has to be later than that.
  7. Google, you so crazy! http://www.google.com/tisp/
  8. It ain't 1948 anymore, folks. I applaud the measure and it will not hurt business one bit.

  11. My parents just said, "So what?" The kids will find something else to tease her about.
  12. That's pretty funny.
  13. When I was in middle school I used to get teased endlessly for my MTA Pros (for those not in the midwest, that's MTA as in Meijer's Thrifty Acres). All the cool kids had Adidas at that time. I probably could've played basketball, as I was really tall by the time I was in 7th grade, but I was too embarassed about my shoes... oh and I was incredibly clumsy. Marbury is doing a good thing.
  14. This lady is out of her mind. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...00351&imw=Y
  15. I was thinking about this the other day as I saw some bees on our spring flowers outside. It is a serious problem.
  16. I think my wife got it taken care of last night. I think they will credit our account. Dan, I realize the importance of a mortgage in order to be able to afford a home (the current cost of a house in relation to wages is a whole 'nuther topic and one I've touched on before), but I still think it is insane to pay $800+ per month and only $115 of that actually goes towards the principal whereas $400+ goes to the interest. That's a fool's game setup by The Man (I'm only half-joking here)... but what alternative is there? Yes, my house will appreciate in value (hopefully) but will it be worth four times what I paid for it? I highly doubt it. One thing I've read that you can do is pay an extra month's worth each year, which will cut your mortgage in half (in other words, it will take only 15 years to pay off a 30 year mortgage). We try to pay a bit more each month to knock down that principal.
  17. Yes, and automatic payments don't cost anything, but they will pull the money out of our account on the 1st of the month and sometimes we really really need that 15 day grace period. We asked if we could do internet payments on our own, but there's a $20 fee for that, too. Which makes no sense. This is the only bill we have that we cannot pay online without a fee. It's ridiculous.
  18. All I know is that we sent our last payment in via certified mail (like we always do) on the 2nd. By the 13th, it still hadn't been cashed, although we got a note from the post office saying it had been delivered. The mortgage is due on the 1st of the month, but you have until the 15th before it is actually considered late. So on the 14th my wife calls to figure out what is going on. "We never got the check," they say. Yes you did, we have delivery confirmation from the post office that you did. "Well, the minute we get it, it is processed, so if it hasn't been processed, we didn't get it." Yes you did, because we have delivery confirmation. Round and round we go. Okay, so they won't budge... they claim we didn't get it. What now? Well, you can pay over the phone but there is a $20 fee. What about the check? Well, if it ever pops up they'll just cash it. Can't they put a note on the account that says DO NOT CASH CHECK # ----? Nope. The service center and the processing center are on opposite ends of the country. So we have to pay $20 to make the payment over the phone, plus $20 to stop the check at our bank because the mortgage company lost the check. Keep in mind that $40 to us right now is a LOT of money because I am simply not working. $40 means no gas for my van this week. That's just where we are right now. Sure enough, just this week, they tried to cash the check. Imagine that. So now we're trying to get them to pay for the cost of doing the transaction over the phone, since obviously THEY HAD THE CHECK, which is what we were telling them all along. The whole idea of a mortgage pisses me off... whoever came up with the idea of compound interest is a rich, rich man.
  19. I remember when my wife and I were buying our house and the mortgage guy kept telling us we should do the ARM thing. I was concerned about it going up and by how much. "Oh, it's not going to go up my much. The way the market is now, it will be very low." I'm glad we didn't listen to him and got a fixed rate instead. I will say that I hate mortgage companies. Ours has been transfered (or rather sold) to three different companies in the three years that we've owned this house. The most recent one, Wells Fargo (who we haven't had for even a full payment cycle yet) has already pissed us off.
  20. The bots are taking over!
  21. No big surprise. It's happening to stations all over the country.
