  1. If the guy is in San Fran, how could this be Dr. Lonnie Smith's? Lonnie lives in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
  2. I'm sorry guys, I let a pretty bad one this morning. I didn't think it would get all the way to NYC, though. Must've been that chili last night.
  3. With the continuous increasing glut of music on the market (99.9% of it crap), discussion forums like this one, that cater to a specific niche, will become ever more important. It is the only way to wade through the sludge with a chance at success, imo.
  4. Your kids shouldn't have to go through getting whipped with an electrical cord either, lady. Tough luck.
  5. Congrats! Now the fun begins!
  6. Maybe this isn't obvious to you, but this is not your personal play-pen. I run the show here and many of the members have decades of musical experience beyond what you have. Show a little more respect please and start honing your sense of humor.
  7. Nope. Too dangerous to allow embedding in a forum like this.
  8. I don't know. This one might be worse... especially because of the "hidden" meaning behind the lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO-Ken1BROM
  9. Yes, I believe JazzKat is still in high school. I was just getting into jazz at the tail end of high school, mainly Jimmy Smith.
  10. How funny is it that Riley benched Walker and Posey for being out of shape? Let's talk about the chances for a Heat repeat...
  11. Did you make your parents attend the timeshare thingy?
  12. I was pretty impressed with Ron S's NHT SB3s. Fantastic sound for an inexpensive bookshelf. Weizen bought my pair of B&W CMD-SE1s. Those were nice, too.
  13. Thanks, Lon! The other preamp was the Adcom GFP-750. Great preamp. No, I don't have that anymore. I sold it on eBay. If I ever have the money to build another hi-fi stereo system, that's the first thing I'm going to get.
  14. And here I am worrying about $400. I'm in the wrong business.
  15. Now that's a hero!!!
  16. Don't worry... that can be every day!
  17. Both could be true, but one surely is. In all seriousness, yes it is in 4/4.
  18. I bought this back in 2000 or so from Vlad at North Country. At the time he said it was the best phono preamp you could buy for under $1500. I paid around $550. I don't know if it is still the best in that price range, but it is damn good. Super clean, detailed, perfect implementation of the RIAA curve and very simple. Plug it in the wall, plug in your turntable's RCA outputs, plug the outputs of the McCormack into your preamp and... Voila! Instant vinyl yumminess! I don't have a picture because my wife has the digital camera at work today, but I can add one if anyone cares. It's in perfect condition. I'll sell for $250 obo.
  19. It's funny you should mention that because I was just going to suggest that very model. I have one that I bought off ebay for $50. Why? Because when we were doing a northern Michigan tour one year and I tried to record one of the gigs at this restaurant, the power was so bad that my digital recorder would barely power up and would not recognize the harddrive. The next year I came back to the restaurant with that very model of line conditioner and plugged it in. The conditioner's LED let me know that the voltage of the line was extremely low, but it smoothed every thing out and my digital recorder worked great. Now I don't leave home without it. It also massively attenuates hum from my Leslie at Baker's Keyboard Lounge (they have terrible power there, too). I need to get a few more for my computers, since they are very susceptable to power fluxuations and my house is very old. Highly recommended and much cheaper than these "audiophile" ones.
  20. Holy crap! The Lions beat the Cowboys?! This is the Lions' first win since November 5th when they beat the Falcons! When I saw it on Sports Center, I couldn't believe it! I didn't even bother to watch the game as I had too many other things to do and wanted to spend my TV time watching the Pistons instead. Ha!
  21. Well, the Pistons almost won the game, even without Chauncey. If they had made just a couple more 3's (they were what, 1 of 14?) they would've won it. I'm actually impressed at how well they played against the Suns without Mr. Big Shot leading the charge. That is a good sign!
  22. Thanks Jim, just bought it via eBay.
  23. Yeah, I noticed that sentence, too. What a shame. This is NYC we're talking about here, right?
  24. I'll be picking this box set up, for sure. I need to get some Sydicate discs, too. Zawinul is an amazing talent.
