  1. I bought my turntable and phono preamp from them. Very nice and Vladimir is the man.
  2. It depends on how you rip them obviously. You can get terabyte RAID arrays for under $400 nowadays. That would hold plenty of losless stereo music.
  3. I didn't see the Pistons last night (wasn't on cable) but I read that 'Sheed got ejected. That doesn't bode well, does it? First game of the season and he gets ejected for arguing calls. I'm not surprised the Bucks won. They gave the Pistons fits last year.
  4. There's a sort of disconnect between the subtitle of that record and the picture, don't you think?
  5. Only if it was this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGuDqZO_G2E
  6. Quick thought regarding used CDs: What is really unethical is a used CD store selling promo copies (with holes through the bar-code, promo stickers on them saying, "Not for retail", etc.) because then the artist never even got credit for the first "transaction". Since the copy is a promo, it was given to a radio programmer or reviewer, etc. and the artist never saw any money from that CD. Just a thought.
  7. Nope. For one thing, he can score! I love Big Ben and wish him well in Chicago, but he obviously didn't fit very well in Flip's system. The players Detroit has now fit extremely well and, like I said, the bench is very much improved over last season. I think they will be formidable this year.
  8. I think the Pistons will be better than last year. I really like Nazr (he can score and defend) and their bench is vastly improved from last year. Will they win 64 games again? Probably not, since I think they learned it's better to be rested going into the playoffs than have a 14 game lead over your nearest division rival. But who knows? They looked very good in the pre-season and that was mainly with the bench players.
  9. I figured it was a euphemism for... you know... shining the helmet.
  10. I didn't watch the game, but I wish I had. 42 point spread?! Ouch! The Heat are going to have a VERY hard time this year. Just like every other champion, they have a huge target on their backs and every team is going to bring their A game against them. I still think the Pistons will win the East this year, although Cleveland and Chicago are going to give them hell.
  11. I've been thinking of going this route, too, albeit without the expensive DAC. But I have so many CDs and usually can't find the one I want when I want it. It would be nice to have everything available.
  12. Nothing like living your dream of being in a prog band through high school kids!
  13. And if you're going to replace your power cord, why not replace the outlet cover, too? You know how that can mess with your system. Wait, you even need to replace the covers on "un-used" outlets as well. http://www.machinadynamica.com/machina44.htm
  14. Ok, I stand corrected. This is even more stupid: http://www.machinadynamica.com/machina17.htm
  15. My favorite piece of audio-foolery of all time has to be this gem: http://www.referenceaudiomods.com/Merchant..._Code=NOB_C37_C Yes, these guys are serious. Almost $500 for a wooden knob to replace the plastic one on your amp or preamp. Not a new potentiometer, mind you. Just the actual knob.
  16. Clem, this one post makes up for everything. Brilliant!
  17. But that's Joe on bass. He switched after a few years.
  18. Then you should love this! That seriously almost made me wretch.
  19. Pennies. We used to get a roll of pennies or a zip-lock bag with maybe $.50 of spare change in it from someone every year. That sucked.
  20. Jimmy Smith - Back At The Buffet Line Larry Young - I Stepped Into Something' Stanley Turrentine - Clearly Befuddled
  21. "Show Choirs" are the new marching bands. A whole bunch of work by a whole bunch of people for really crappy results.
  22. That was awful. That show was awful. Forgive me for not having cable until the mid-90s, but what the hell was KIDS Incorporated? Because there is an awful lot of awful stuff on YouTube from that show. Some of it just crappy, but some of it downright frightening, like this clip:
  23. I told ya. Didn't I tell ya?
  24. I have a hard time believing power cords could make much of a difference. It seems to me a well-designed, well insulated power supply would be the deal breaker, not what's coming from the wall. After all, the AC/DC converter is where the action is.
  25. Call my up my friend Rick Prevallet at Tonewheel General Hospital. He'll sell you the correct kit. Do you know how to solder and follow basic schematics? If not, you should find an organ tech in your local phone book and he/she could do the work for you. Either that, or someone who knows electronics and can follow a schematic. It's not hard if you have a basic understanding of electronics, but if you don't, I'd find someone to do it for you.
