  1. Who's listening? I'm waiting for him to rail against my iron fist in the band.
  2. Anytime I listen to Stanley, he brings a huge smile to my face. One of my favorite tenor players of all time.
  3. I'm still trying to get my hands on footage from the Detroit International Jazz Festival. They had a huge boom-arm and supposedly taped about half the set. When I get that and edit it and put it up, I'll let everyone know
  4. On Pumpkin Pie, it was a company out of Ann Arbor called Contemporary Media Works that I used to do some freelance video editing for. On Tenderly, it was Randy's old roommate who happened to stop by the studio the night we were recording. And on Greaze Monkey, it was the company that was hired to do the big LED screens that flanked the side of the stage. So what you see is what people in the audience saw on the big ol' Tee-Vees.
  5. Wait until you get to the main course!
  6. I think the avant garde isn't so avant garde anymore.
  7. Just click on the blue "more" and it'll expand the description of the movie.
  8. Thanks! That's the new Hammond XK System in the video. Cool, eh?
  9. Juan, The 125 is a single-rotor Leslie. It does not have an upper horn or upper rotor, so it's a little "dull" sounding. All the sound comes from 1 woofer. That said, it would be a nice addition to an M3 and would give you that rotary sound. It just doesn't have a lot of high frequency range. $200 for an M3 is a good price. I wouldn't pay more than $250 for the Leslie. Try to get it for $150 or $200.
  10. I get a cut of anything you buy off Amazon as long as you go there through the link at the top of the page.
  11. Didn't see that. Yeah, let me look that up.
  12. Nah, McDonald is just a watered-down Soulive. Guy Lol!
  13. The following article refers to a B3, but it is a pretty good guide for an M3 as well. http://theatreorgans.com/hammond/faq/hammond-faq.html#SEC12 Good luck!
  14. And M3 will sound like a B3. Same generator, just less tonewheels (ie, no bass on the lower manuals and wimpy bass pedal sound). I played an M3 with a synth on top for left-hand bass for years. That's actually how I learned. It does help to pair it with a real Leslie.
  15. What I do is put the record on the player. Since I don't have a phono preamp, I just put a high-gain condenser microphone really close to the needle, then drop the needle to the platter. The recordings usually don't sound very full, though.
  16. Yowza. He doesn't want it gone that badly if he's asking $6800 for it. That's not a Leslie 122R either. It's a 222 or something. The "home" model.
  17. organissimo - This Is The Place organissimo - Waiting For The Boogaloo Sisters...
  18. Shirley has her own bag. McDuff is instantly recognizable by his choice of harmonies. McGriff is instantly recognizeable by his basslines. Patterson is distinguished by his burning bop runs. Holmes is a bassline freak and a master at tension/release. Patton is his own man. His feel is unlike anybody elses. Johnny Hammond Smith is a master of understatement. There is a lot of similarity in the genre, especially these days, but the masters all have their differences. Some may seem subtle to the un-initiated, but they stick out like red flags once you dig into the music.
  19. Isn't this stuff divided up on various CDs? I can't recall. I have this in any case.
  20. Great news, CJ! Congrats! Keep pushing and writing and doing what you want to do!
  21. I still can't get over this. I mean, that was fast. I aim to please.
  22. Yep, just send me a PM letting me know what you want it changed to.
  23. Yeah, I missed the "fanatic" part in my first read. I got this CD from a DJ friend and could only listen to about four tracks. The trio sounds good (if predictable), but Weiss' playing was definitely not my cup of tea.
