  1. I'm losing my mind... What happened to the sweet, lovable, obedient, easy-to-please child I had just a few months ago? My wife and I used to laugh about "the terrible twos". "Oh Zora is so sweet," we said when she was 24 months, then 25, then 26, then 27. All of sudden, she's become the Devil's spawn. The other day, after repeatedly telling her not to play at the window (our windows are 5 foot tall and very close to the floor), she put one of her toys through the brand new storm-screen window that I just put on the house last fall. Poked it right through the screen. Bedtime, including naps, has become a Battle of Wills. She's tall enough and coordinated enough to open doors (even though our doorknobs are 100 years old and hard to turn) and so she escapes from her room over and over again. If she's not escaping, she's in her room playing with toys instead of lying in her bed. Today my sister brought her little boy over, who is a month older, and Zora took to bullying him around, pinching him, pushing him, taking toys away from him, yelling at him, etc. When did I inherent a brat?! After that episode of bullying, she started eating her window sill. There are all these little teeth marks and chips out of the paint where she is biting the sill, for some unknown reason. She started doing it right in front of me, even though she knows she's not supposed to (she's gotten in trouble for it before). So I put her on the "naughty step" for a few minutes. Right after letting her off the naughty step, I left her alone for a minute while I talked to my sister and we were playing with her son and Zora proceeds to take a plastic flower (for some reason she has this plastic flower... like the kind little old ladies have in their houses... I do not know where it comes from) and draws with it on our new LG refrigerator. Now, this flower has a very sharp metal wire sticking out of the bottom (again, why does she have this thing!?) and she scratched the living shit out of our new fridge, which is not stainless but has a "titanium finish" that looks like stainless but is still magnetic. All I know is that it's scratched to hell and there's no way to repair it. Looks like we'll be replacing the door. I'm about at my wits end with this child! I haven't even tried to put her down for a nap yet!
  2. Yeah, tack on shipping it across the country with what that guy is asking and you're going to pay about 3x what the organ is actually worth. You're better off waiting for one to appear in your area. They are all over the place.
  3. Chris Farley: Remember that time when, umm, you were in the Beatles. <long pause> Paul McCartney: Uh, yeah. Chris Farley: That was awesome!
  4. Dude, that organ is in Colorado! How are you going to get it to NY? Tell you what, I've got a blonde M3 just like that one sitting in my garage gathering dust. You want it, you can have it for $200. You just got to come to Michigan and get it. But that's a lot closer than Colorado! I'm dead serious.
  5. The board is showing the correct time for me. Check your settings in the control panel.
  6. Gerry Mulligan and Ben Webster
  7. Yeah, you're the "glue" all right. The CRAZY glue! Nice review, thanks for posting it, brother.
  8. You talking about Seleno Clarke?
  9. Of course you guys are right. I thought about that after I did it. I should've done what Dan suggested and followed them at a safe distance while calling the cops. I was just frickin' pissed off! Little shits. I could pick them out of a line-up easy... I got good looks at both their faces.
  10. UPDATE: As I was pulling up to my house after tonight's gig, I see two kids running around the side of it. As soon as they see me, they instantly stop running and start walking calmly down the sidewalk ... like "Ho de hum, pay no attention to us". I pull my car up to my garage and notice the motion light I installed a few weeks ago is on. It only turns on once you get to my property line (basically, up to one of our cars) so I know the fuckers were back there. So I park my van and sneak around the side of my house. I see the two kids rifling through my neighbors car. They have a flashlight and backpacks. They get done with that car and check his other one. I yell out, "Is that your car?" They look up and just start walking away, again towards the sidewalk, not saying a word. I walk over to them and say "Are you the little fuckers that stole my digital camera a few months ago?" One of them says, "I don't know what you're talking about, sir." I say, "I bet you don't. Better run, I'm calling the cops." and I start dialing the police department on my cell phone as I watch them head into the neighborhood. I got a really good visual of both of them. I would say they were in the early teens... no older than 15 or 16. I called the police and an officer came by while another is patrolling the neighborhood. I hope they find the little shits. Makes me want to put a close-circuit camera on my garage.
  11. Yes, I do, or else I wouldn't watch him. If you've ever watched Bill O'Reilly, that's basically who he's modeled this character after and I think he's suceeded in taking a ridiculous figure like O'Reilly and making him even more so.
  12. You guys realize it's satire, right?
  13. Is it really a problem or is it just the way things have been since time began? As for Colbert, that was funny! If you can't laugh at yourself... As for music education, I don't think it even has to be jazz and/or classical. Just any kind of education in music in general (the way it works, rhythm, melody, harmony, etc.) would be beneficial. In fact, I think the biggest problem with what music education there still is in schools is that they don't go into why stuff works. "Here's the sheet music, play it." It's like paint-by-numbers. EXPLAIN it to kids, and then they'll be able to better judge the stuff they hear on the radio... "Wait a minute... this tune only has four bars just repeated over and over. That's bad songwriting!" Maybe it's wishful thinking...
  14. They're not using G5 chips in anything anymore, are they? Nope. But try to find a used G5 for anything near $600. The new Core Duo's are supposed to be nice, but again... $$$$. I was playing back 16 tracks of 24 bit audio with heavy plug-ins on over half the tracks last night and my new machine was barely working. I think my CPU usage was at about 20%.
  15. So what? I just built a PC yesterday that smokes any dual-processor G5 out there for the total cost of $600! I respect Apple, but their stuff is just too expensive. iPods included.
  16. LMAO! Oh man, that's priceless.
  17. It's her best album, imo. The mellotron is on one track, just a string sound behind the organ, nothing special. Harold Vick plays his nuts off on this one and Billy Higgins is his usual jovial self. It's a great record.
  18. I haven't had time to dig into this very deeply, but I will say one thing: It aint' driving music. I need to find time to actually sit down and "listen" to it, which is tough for me these days.
  19. We are off Friday....please tell me your are there on Friday! g That would kick-ass to see Uncle Bill at Cliff Bells. RJ, is he bringing a Hammond? Do you need one?
  20. Yes, it works great! I will say that black and white prints tend to have a bit of a blue tint to them, but otherwise the ink works great and last forever. I ordered the 36 catridges for $80 months ago (has to be a least seven months ago) and I still have plenty of it left. I print a lot of crap, too. It's well worth the money.
  21. Sounds like a gig I did for that fat bastard Engler in college with my a capella group, where we sang for an extra two hours (outside, in the dead of winter, greeting guests as they came to the governors mansion) and then he (well, his staff) only paid us HALF of what we originally agreed upon. Gotta love the GOP!
  22. So it is... never heard of him. I liked the solo on that tune, though. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...gj4eal04xk7~T00 Thanks!
  23. From this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0SH4YFp1JQ Who is the organist?! Here's a still frame:
