  1. Not sure what happened to the Pistons. I feel really bad for McDyess. He played his ass off this season. If the Heat win, it'll be nice for Mourning. He deserves a ring.
  2. I agree that this box is pure gold. I also agree that Wilson's use of Groove Holmes as part of the big band is second to none. I like those Jimmy Smith Verve records, but they always sound like "here's the big band... and now here's Jimmy Smith!" which was probably the point. Groove is much more integrated in the band. And I think it's the only example of an organist kickin' bass with a big band!!!
  3. Paul, it was great to see you again last night and your lovely fiance. For all those in Chi-town who stayed home last night, you missed JP tearing it up on a mean shuffle behind the kit as Randy played harp out front. That was too much fun! I had a great time in Chicago this weekend and we'll be back soon. We're at the Chicago Jazz Fest this year on Labor Day weekend and I'll have Greg look into Fitzgeralds. Looks like our kind of place!
  4. Why the "adult material" warning? This seems kinda fishy...
  5. WTF? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RUtvfkANuo Where's the drummer?
  6. LOL, I remember this game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn0GKCsmGTM
  7. I think the announcer was referring to Shaq pushing R. Wallace out of the way before Big Ben came over and stuffed his dunk attempt.
  8. Anybody here have any speakers by Paradigm? What do you think?
  9. Missed baltostar's post the first time, but this caught my eye: Nearly legit organ? What does that mean? "Excuse me sir, do you have a permit for that organ?" "Why yes, it's right here." "Do you realize this permit is expired?" "Yeah, but it expired yesterday. This organ is nearly legit."
  10. Fast-foward 20 years: "Man, it sounds like that drummer has three arms!!! Waitaminute...."
  11. It could've been called a foul. Frankly, the way they have been calling these games, I'm surprised it wasn't. But c'mon... Shaq gets away with using his off-arm to hook people on almost every play (not to mention elbowing Ben in the face repeatedly). Ben was owed one.
  12. I've been so busy with other things I've forgotten to post to let all our Chicago members know that both my bands will be at Andy's Jazz Club in Chicago this weekend. Root Doctor, who just got a killin' review of our new disc in Living Blues magazine, will play Friday night and organissimo will be there Saturday night. Which means all day Saturday I'll just be chillin', if any Chicago board members want to give me a ring and hang out. PM me! Andy's Jazz Club 11 East Hubbard St. Chicago, IL 60611 Phone: (312) 642-6805 www.andysjazzclub.com Hope to see some of y'all there!
  13. It ain't over until it's over, folks. I won't be able to watch Game 6, as I'll be playing in Chicago, but if the Pistons play with the kind of energy they had tonight, watch out.
  14. You need to leave.
  15. Hey, at least the Pistons made it past the first round.
  16. No kidding. He's not a kid anymore. He's at least 23 years old. Time to let go of the excuses, people.
  17. Frank, try the Blues Alley as a venue in DC. Good luck with the new CD!
  18. One thing that irks me about ebay's feedback system is that most sellers wait until you have left feedback before leaving any for you as the buyer. If I'm the buyer, my only obligation is to pay via the agreed upon terms in a timely manner, no? So as soon as that is done, the seller should leave me positive feedback. Instead, they wait until you leave feedback and if your feedback to them happens to be neutral or negative, they retaliate. For instance, I recently purchased a tool on ebay that I need to finish this kitchen remodel. I need to have this kitchen DONE by June 6th. I bought this tool on May 24th, paid via Paypal instantly. The seller is in Iowa. I've emailed him twice asking about when it will be shipped. He claims he shipped it the same day (May 24th), but that it will take 10-14 days to get there. I paid this guy $50 for shipping a medium weight, medium sized tool and it's going to take two weeks for it to get to me from Iowa?! That seems bogus to me. When the tool arrives, I'd like to give him a neutral for poor shipping (assuming the damn thing works in the first place!) but I know he'll then turn around and give me the same or worse, even though I upheld my end of the bargain to perfection.
  19. I don't think he's funny at all.
  20. Thank you, I'll give those a shot!
  21. I've had my share of epoxy exposure. Not sure I want to go down that road again! But I believe you, the stuff would probably out-last the house. We probably won't be doing any of our other floors for a few years and in the meantime I'll see how this kitchen floor holds up. It's going to be getting a lot of traffic. Again, thanks for the tip!
  22. I've never prayed for the death of another human being, but...
