  1. You're welcome, folks. And yes, I will try to get the donate tab up again (I always forgot how to program it when I update the software and my skins get reset) but in the meantime, my Paypal email is b3groover@hotmail.com. Just send a Paypal amount to that address.
  2. This has been an intersting thread and I'm wary of voicing my own opinion on the matter (although it is probably well known by now). I will say that I have consciously tried to temper any re-issue buying with purchasing two new discs for every re-issue. I failed at Stereojack's place (along with Kevin B) simply because I had not yet picked up the recent re-issues of Turning Point by Lonnie Smith (nice), Mothership by Larry Young (sweet), or The Sounds of Jimmy Smith (holy crap!). On a side note, that is one of the Top 10 Re-Issues of 2005 for me. Jimmy Smith recorded in 1957 with something to prove to the world. Smith has his boxing gloves on and is not taking any prisoners whatsoever. And has Eddie McFadden ever played better? Just a thought, but I find it hard to believe that Wynton weilds such power as to influence the jazz gig scene in Texas, especially in the mid-80s. It seems to me that it might've been just another instance of nostalgia creeping into pop culture. Kind of how there is a big "I Love The 80's" nostalgia going on now. But what do I know?
  3. We need both of them back here to add some much needed levity to this place, imo.
  4. I can? Hey, it looks like I can! Damn, I'm sweet!
  5. The band is great, thanks. We just had a nice party last night to celebrate our success in 2005. Back to Dexter, I only have one recording by him, the aforementioned "GO!" What else is critical listening for the man?
  6. And.... GO!
  7. Ok children. I'm closing this thread while I clean it up. I've not been one to delete posts in the past, but I'm going to remove all the completely irrational and stupid comments in this thread (at my discretion) and then re-open it. And upon re-opening it, if you could all act like adults and actually discuss differences of opinions without resorting to insulting each other's mothers, that would be just peachy.
  8. Agreed.
  9. Damn. That's very sad. RIP.
  10. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...30entry301675 And?
  11. I'm pushing it back to 11:00pm EST. I have things to do.
  12. I'll be temporarily closing the forums at around 10:00pm to upgrade to IPB version 2.1.4 from version 2.1.3. Just some minor bug fixes but I like to stay up to date. It shouldn't take long.

  14. Oh, make it stop, make it stop!
  15. If the sun ever comes out again here in Michigan, it will be a happy day.
  16. I already did, Chuck, back in my first post on this thread. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...ndpost&p=454996
  17. A more than likely scenario is that the two tunes you have versions of are actually the same tune, but whoever was in charge of getting the licenses for the release of the one of the records screwed up and credited the wrong version of "You're My Thrill". It's easy enough to do. When getting licenses for the seven cover tunes on the upcoming Root Doctor CD, I ran into about 10 different tunes called "Mississippi Blues". I used the information from a Rory Block CD to find the correct writer (thus realizing it's in the public domain), but if her CD is wrong, then I'm wrong as well. You can see how this perpetuates itself. Licensing turns up interesting things. For instance, one of the cover tunes we do on the Root Doctor CD I thought was called "Love Bone" (originally done by Johnnie Taylor) and on most CDs that cover it, that is what it is called. But the real title of the song I found out is actually "Love Bones". Same thing for "Turning Point", originally done by Tyrone Davis. The real title is "The Turning Point", but even on his album it's called "Turning Point".
  18. Jim, by "the back" are you referring to the actual back of the Leslie (ie, with the removable louvres)? I ask because most players face their Leslie's backwards (with the amp in plain view) when playing and so the "back" would actually be the front (the side of the cabinet with no removable panels), if you catch my drift.
  19. According to the Harry Fox Agency, which handles mechanical licensing: Additional Information for:YOU'RE MY THRILL Writer(s):JAY GORNEY, SIDNEY CLAREHFA Song Code:Y61921 Publisher Represented By HFA NEXT DECADE MUSIC OBO GORNEY MUSICYBOURNE CO. But also: Additional Information for:YOU'RE MY THRILL Writer(s):BURTON LANE, NED WASHINGTONHFA Song Code:Y61922 Publisher Represented By HFA EMI ROBBINS CATALOG INC So who knows?!
  20. What are the criticisms? The only fault I have is that the ink is too expensive (which is solved by buying the non-OEM ink on eBay) and that printing CDs is a relatively slow process. Otherwise, I have no complaints. I think it does a great job. But I have the R200, not the R220, although I honestly don't think there are many differences.
  21. Yeah, let's invite her to this forum, where people continue to be so civil to each other. Happy New Year!
