You should be able to edit a poll. Not sure what the deal was with that.

I hooked you up, Jim!

When did you start working professionally?
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Musician's Forum
Luck!!! I became a self-employed, professional musician in 2001. All that money I wasted on college, pretending to be "practical" and trying to get a degree... BAH! I could've bought some serious Hammond organs with that bread!!! -
It's that kind of excitement that the jazz forum community has been severely lacking!

How To Donate To The Organissimo Forums
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
Yeah, it went bye-bye with the upgrade. I'll have to figure out how to put it back up there again (I always forget). -
That site is insane!!! What's even crazier is how many of those tapes I actually had!!! Different brands and models... I used tapes like crazy when I was a kid, dubbing records from my dad's collection to listen to on the bus, making my own music on a 4-track cassette machine (then dubbing the finished song down to another tape) etc. Wow. I think I might have some that he doesn't, though. Some really old Maxell's from the 70s that I yanked from my dad.

Look, I agree that most religious discussions belong in Politics, because most of them deal with "moral" issues or issues that are also "political" in nature. But just mentioning God doesn't count, imo. If I were to start a thread about Coltrane, and we began discussing his religious beliefs and how that affected his music, would that belong in Politics? Again, where does it stop? I'm sorry that some of you were offended by the post, but I can't keep everyone from being offended all the time. I just can't, without completely destroying the soul of this board. With freedom of speech comes the risk of being offended by that speech and I try as hard as I can to uphold freedom of speech as much as I can. Obviously there has to be exceptions, but I try to stay true to that as much as possible. Am I making any sense?

And your fuss is another man's no fuss. So what? This place can be SO extremely frustrating because everybody wants it to be run the way THEY think it should be run. Guess what? I can't do that. So learn some tolerance, ok? Is the original post THAT offensive?! C'mon! Like I said, people don't have a right not to be offended by something. If that was the case, y'all might as well stop posting any and all opinions about any music because most likely your opinion about some artist might offend someone else. I mean, where does it stop? Anytime someone mentions God or a Creator I have to move it into Politics because it might offend somebody? If someone says "I think Junior Cook was a shitty saxophonist." I should move it into Politics because it might offend someone? What if one of his kids is reading this and is offended by that statement? Again, where does it stop? This is the kind of stuff that does no one any good. For the record, I don't mind the suggestions and people reporting posts. I can't stay on top of all the things around here. And I also don't mind debating things like this. Oh yeah, and I love you all.

organissimo wants to play in YOUR TOWN
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Maybe, but that would make this place awfully dull. I guess I'm not sure what you're getting at re: the public/private thing. I mean, this thread for exaple: Someone couldn't just PM me or Randy with ideas if they didn't want to air them in public? Or did he ask the question the wrong way? I'm still confused. It's pretty normal for me. -
it hurts!!!! It's for those that like their jazz internet experience to be WILD!!!

organissimo wants to play in YOUR TOWN
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
couw, I'm a little confused by your post. Are you saying we should be more aggressive in asking for help publicly or that we should do it privately? I'm not sure that I agree that anyone owes us anything. Yes, we supply this board and pay the costs and maintain it and all that, but it has also helped us achieve a little more recognition than we probably would have on our own. Then again, it can have some negative consequences as well (which I won't go into... they're relatively small right now, but they are there... suffice to say that some industry peoples haven't been to happy about some of the things said here, but oh well...) I don't know. I'm always wary of asking people for anything but I do very much appreciate the zeal of some members to help us get to their hometowns. -
I have to agree that this post is relatively harmless. People don't have a right to not be offended by something. Just don't read it. Now, if this was some sort of "YOU'RE ALL GOING TO HELL!!!" or something like "You can't listen to Coltrane without being a Christian" type of a post, I might agreet that it belongs in Politics (side-note: Should I rename the forum "Politics, Religion, and other touchy subjects?" ) but this was a pretty simple celebration of a holiday and a man's music. I don't see why there needs to be a fuss.

The green is ready!
-
Wait 'til y'all see the green I'm working on!!!

Probably from me trying to change the order of the links. I just reverted them back to the original code (despite Nessa probably going ape-shit on me! ) and they will probably look fine now.

I's cant's waits for me TURKEY!!!! Enjoy, y'all!

'Zags are definitely fun to watch but my man Adam Morrison needs to shave that peach-fuzz he's trying to pass off as a mustache! What's up with that?!? I thought dudes grew out of that once they got out of high school. Anyway, that was a great game that would've been even good-er-er if State had won. They had the chance, just missed that lay-up. Tonight's game against Arizona was good, though. Another OT nail-biter! I think State is going to do well this year and I'm looking forward to watching them. I must say, I haven't been following college hoops much for the last few years and the differences between that and the NBA are pretty striking (and funny!).

The peach and purple is back and better than ever! If you'd like to choose between the new blue color scheme and the old (but improved) peach & purple, scroll down to the very bottom of the page (the big blue/gray bar that says "Lo-Fi Version") and to the left is a window that says "Org 2.1.3 Blue". Click on that and choose "Org 2.1.3 Peach" to change! I'll be making some other colors soon, but man is it time consuming!!!

The little "o" is back!
-
I thought that was the way it was? Am I wrong? I can move it back.

Today's Active Topics is now back at the bottom. All this time I was working on the wrong frickin' skin. DUH! Is the order of the log-in bar correct!? I seem to remember that it got changed and I had to revert it back to something else last time.

I think the new-posts-being-added-to-old-posts thing is a function of time. In other words, if you wait a bit before posting again, it won't merge the posts. I think it's a good thing, but I'll look into it since I did not change the behaviour of the board to act this way, it just did it upon installing the upgrade. I'm also working on new skins and you'll have the ability to choose between this current one, the old peach/purple combo, maybe an all purple (lavender) and maybe something totally funky! The skins seem to be much easier to edit this time around, although still time consuming.

I am still working on it and I will get it back.

Yes you can. I'm not sure how you invite people once the room is setup, however. The name of the software is ParaChat and I'm sure they have a manual on their website.
