  1. No kidding... I'll spin some Big John tomorrow while cleaning the house. I'm sure Zora will get a kick out of it!
  2. mrjazzman, You make awfully loud pronouncements for someone hiding behind a screen name. So here we have a physical threat towards other board members and a nice display of homophobia thrown in for good measure. You're treading a very thin line. And all this black/white shit is stupid. Grow up. Time to close this thread.
  3. Wow, it actually plays with all the subtlety of Neil Peart! Amazing!!! j/k
  4. That is a really fine CD... well worth the bread. I have over 20 hours of stuff recorded both last year and this year from our annual Northern Michigan Tour, so hopefully we'll be putting out a live CD of organissimo featuring Arno Marsh!!
  5. Yes, that was a lot of fun! Smokin' Section kicked my ass again tonight! That's a tough tune.
  6. 5pm I believe? I think EST is five hours behind GMT.
  7. I'm sure Lazaro will provide us with a CD-r, so yes... if we don't use any of it for a live CD! I recorded all 6 days of our tour with Arno and I still have the recordings of last year's tour as well, so the plan is to release a live disc culled from those performances.
  8. Bingo! For instance, there's this great new CD by a certain organ trio coming out on August 8th...
  9. Actually, Randy, the website is: http://www.bluelake.org/radio.html
  10. You're joking, right? I dropped off the master and artwork to the printer this morning. Estimated street date is August 8th.
  11. I see that I'm going to have to put some more thought into this. Can y'all give me some time before freaking out to develop a fair rule about this sort of thing?
  12. This is the key, folks. I have over a dozen PC's at work and two at home. Once I turn them on, they are never turned off except for cleaning (another key) and vacations. Turning a PC on and off produces much more stress on the machine than just leaving it on. You do have to reboot now and then to set things straight. ← This makes sense to me, and I do my best not to turn the PC's off, but what about laptops? ← It would only make sense if you have good ventilation. Harddrives get very hot and if they are not adequately ventilated, they'll up and die right quick.
  13. We're on the road right now with Randy's dad, Arno (see this thread) and we started celebrating Randy's birthday last night at midnight with some 14 year-old Oban scotch!! Joe and I are not drinkers, especially when it comes to hard liquor, but that stuff is mighty tasty! We're having a great time and Randy sends his "thanks" for all the birthday wishes!
  14. So who thought up this brilliant rule?
  15. Here is the updated schedule. This tour begins tomorrow folks!!! 16. Larry and Lazaro Vega are victims of the new board software. Not "happy" with earlier mac systems. ← Yeah, that's a real drag. I wonder how many other people have that problem?
  17. ... and don't forget the hit song that Odell penned with Marvin Gaye in the early 80's. I have most of this stuff on vinyl... it's very fun!
  18. Do the thetans steal the show?
  19. Not at all. In fact, if you ever see Organissimo, please pay me $300 up front and I promise not to play it
  20. These days I would say that most studios would not have a real piano in there, but then again you're in NY, so maybe they do. There are a lot of people with home recording gear nowadays that call themselves studios, so you have to be careful there. On the plus side, they usually work real cheap. On the minus side, they might not be very good... but some of them are. It's a crap shoot! Good luck!
  21. The year that he had a stroke he was set to perform at a corporate event that I was doing video post-production for... I was bummed when I heard he wasn't going to be there. Some of the music he did was schlocky, to say the least, but man... what a voice. He came right out of that Donny Hathaway school and took it to a new level.
  22. So I have in my hand yet another Western Digital harddrive that's gone down. This makes for about 6 in the last 7 years or so. I have stopped buying WD drives long ago, but they still pop up in other people's computers. This particular one is from my wife's grandfather's computer. It is completely dead... it won't even power up. It's two years old. Up until about the mid-90's I believe, harddrive manufacturers had a 5 year warranty on their drives. If they died, you could send them back and get a replacement. Then they shortened the warranty period to 3 years. I got many a new drive from warranties, mainly from WD. Now it's only 1 year. And every manufacturer is the same. Why? Because they know their drives are crap and they will fail. In a stunning display of a universal sense of humor, the computer of the lead singer of my r&b band also has two harddrives that fried this week. The brand? Western Digital. I made the mistake of using an older 10gb Western Digital drive (that was originally in an Akai harddisk recorder) in my Fostex 16-track recorder last year on the Organissimo tour with Arno Marsh. I recorded all 6 days of the tour. The 10gb drive had an entire show on it. It died a week after I got home from the tour. I've been having decent luck with Maxtor. I've had really good luck with Seagate drives. But man, what is up with WD?!? I hate having to call people (like I just did with my wife's grandfather) and say, "Yeah, all the data on your harddrive is gone." I'll summarize by saying: BACKUP!! Back up your data now. And frequently.
