  1. What: The Marsh Mellows - Randy & Arno Marsh Quartet with Dan Jacobs on trumpet along with Jeff. Beavan on bass, & Dick Reynolds on da keyz. Where: The bandshell in John Ball Park. 321 W Fulton in Grand Rapids! When: 6:30pm to 8:30pm ~ Arno Marsh has spent the last 50 years as a mainstay of the Las Vegas jazz scene. His beautiful, rich saxophone tone and phrasing harkens back to the golden age of jazz. He has played with the Woody Herman Thundering Herd, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Harry James, behind the Rat Pack, etc. Arno's son Randy is the drummer in Organissimo!! This will be a great show!
  2. Well, bully for him. We'll be on Amazon soon enough.
  3. What are you trying to get? I am the man when it comes to manually sniping eBay auctions. Just last month I put the high bid in on something with 4 seconds left.
  4. She still sounds great, too. World-class singer with no bullshit.
  5. I like how some people voted in this poll after the game was over!!!
  6. I know... he's a humble guy, but criminey... if this isn't a blatant case of trying to make someone a star who isn't a star... he's a good player, but is he a great player? I haven't seen it.
  7. Actually, I know what CD I want: Thanks!
  8. They gave the MVP to Duncan?!?!!? He played horrible. Absolutely horrible, especially for all this talk about being "the best power-forward ever" bullshit.
  9. Spurs are a good team. I still don't like Ginobili. But I may be biased... GO PISTONS! I still love 'em. They did well. And I still get a CD from ss1!
  10. Yep, they had it then blew the lead in the 3rd and couldn't get back. Bummer. Oh well. Wonder what will happen to LB?
  11. Is that the one by Johnny Taylor? I have the 3-disc retrospective of his put out by Fantasy. GREAT music there.
  12. It's doing much better, thank you! Must be because I'm young. I've been wearing a brace all day every day since the incident, which definitely has helped. I also haven't had to play or lift anything heavier than Zora, so I've been taking it easy. Tomorrow will be a test... I have to play and kick bass. I'll get plenty of help getting the big B3 out of the van, for sure!
  13. I picked Detroit. Why? The last four games in this series have been either blowouts favoring the Pistons, or close games favoring the Pistons. The Pistons have the mental advantage right now. And let's face it, they match up better. Parker vs. Billups - winner Billups Manu vs. Tayshaun - the first two games it was all Manu, now it's Tayshaun RIP vs. Bowen - advantage Rip... he's too fast Mohammed vs. Big Ben - no contest... Big Ben Duncan vs. Wallace - I would say Duncan, but he has no outside game unlike Wallace and his free throws have been atrocious
  14. I think the travelling/charges by Manu are offset by the travelling/double dribbles by Hamilton (and vice versa.) It's long been a given that certain players are allowed an extra step, but sometimes it's just silly out there. ← I don't think that's true at all. 99% of the time, Rip is moving without the ball. He usually just catches and shoots. Manu's MO is driving to the basket and he travels like no other.
  15. The Pistons are their most dangerous with their backs against the wall. I think the have a very good chance of winning it all on Thursday. Notice how well both teams play and how close the games are when the officiating is relatively balanced?
  16. It's not fair to say that 'Sheed lost the game. The Pistons had almost 7 seconds left to make a shot and got off a good look. The game was back and forth for the entire second half. We'll see what happens tonight. I think the Pistons can still win this thing, but it's going to be very very tough.
  17. Yeah... I'm still trying to figure out what CD I want. I'm so out of the loop, I have no idea what's been released lately.
  18. I thought this thread was about what happens to men as we enter or exit the swimming pool. Calling George Castanza!!!
  19. Thanks for all the advice, folks. Maren, I did have my foot on a chair when I was trying to tie my shoe!! It was so crazy. I feel much better already tonight. I've been trying to be active, without straining myself. Walking, standing, going up and down stairs. But I just have this feeling back there that any moment the thing is going to go wacko on me again. I'll try to get to a doctor tomorrow, although I have an opportunity to do some video post-production work for $250 a day tomorrow and I really really need the money. The doctor might have to wait until Wednesday.
  20. No numbness but it is going right down into the family jewels and making them feel like they're in a vice. Very uncomfortable, to say the least.
  21. I won't be able to go to a doctor until tomorrow. My wife has meetings all day, up until 9pm, so she won't be home until 9:30pm. But that's good advice. Thank you.
  22. I thought you hated the Spurs? Just remember... even if they beat the Pistons, the Pistons still beat The Lakers in 2004 and The Heat in 2005.
  23. Go to your room!!!! Honestly, I was going to make a chriopractic appointment today, but I don't think that's going to help me. I'm trying to get a hold of my sister, who is a physical therapist. I'm sure there are some stretches and exercises I can do once it heals to strengthen it.
  24. Ok, so two Saturdays ago I decided to load the Hammond by myself, which was a stupid decision, but one that I've made several times. Usually its not a problem, but my back had already been slightly achey that weekend. Long story short, I pulled something in my lower back that hurt pretty bad, but nothing I haven't felt before. Usually I can rest it for a few days and its fine, but this past week I had gig after gig after gig, sometimes two per day. I had help moving the Hammond each one of these gigs, but even the act of playing pedals hurt. So my back hasn't had much of a chance to heal. Sunday (yesterday) it hurt pretty bad and I took it easy on it, lathering it with IcyHot and wearing a back brace the whole day. Today I felt pretty good, but still a little sore. Until I tried to bend down and tie my shoe. I instantly dropped to the floor with the most excruciating pain I've ever felt in my life. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back up. Zora is just looking at me like, "What the hell happened?!" I manage to get up and go lay on the couch for a few minutes, balling like a baby the pain is so bad. Right now I'm still lying here, after tending to Zora. Putting her in her crib for her afternoon nap was quite the chore. My back feels pretty good as I'm lying here with a pillow under my knees but when I get up I can hardly walk. What should I do? I've never had a back injury this bad. I can tell it's just muscles (at least I hope so) but man... the pain is outrageous.
