has the board been runnin' ssssllllooooowww
Jim Alfredson replied to Soulstation1's topic in Forums Discussion
I'm leaning that way, definately... having own our server, I mean. So far the best deal I can find is $99 a month, which is not bad. I do not want to have mandatory donations, but with everyone's permission, if I decided to go the dedicated server route, I would make a post detailing the month's contributions and then everyone could see what we'd need to make up the difference. Instead of posting names, I could post the time, date, and amount of the donation (that way you could tell it was yours without having your name out there). I'm just thinking outloud here. -
You obviously haven't seen her show if you really believe she can sing. I guarantee, there is a lot of "studio trickery" going on. Yes, it was her immaturity that led to the mess up and that's exactly the point. She shouldn't be performing on a nationally televised hit show like SNL when she has so little stage experience. What ever happened to paying your dues? I guess when you don't really sing the tunes in the first place, it doesn't matter.

That was weird. Y'all got the "too many connections" error for a bit? I reset the 'forumsessions' table in the admin panel and that seemed to clear it up. Reason number 2 that we may need our own server. -

I will, but it looks like it will be far less than I expected. We may have enough funds already to pay for up to two years of service. -

This new server is really fast for me too. I really apologize for the site being down, folks. For those that don't know, the company that hosted my site, The Chain, was sold by it's owner to another company supposedly as of August 11th. I was supposed to have received an email about this, which I never did. They were also supposed to transfer all the data over at the end of August, which did not happen. Instead, they started transfering data on Monday but not before The Chain's servers were taken offline (from what I understand, he was piggy-backing on some other internet backbone... I'm not completely sure of the details) and then the data was transfered over slowly. The forum database, however, got lost in the shuffle and didn't make the transfer until now. But at least it's here. And everything seems fine. Man, this has been one stressful week for me. -
Actually, Kenny G was called a pentatonic fairyfucker on this board. Is that good enough?

What's up with Detroit and the road wins? That was a good game. Pistons won tonight, too! And Friday. And Michigan won yesterday. All around good weekend for Michigan sports!

From what I've heard, Ray was involved with this movie very intimately. He was on the set almost every day and the film got his blessing, as well as the family's blessing. It was finished quite some time before Ray passed. That's just what I've heard.

I like you, Chuck. -
The uploading pictures is broken? Hmm... perhaps from moving to a new server the folder privleges got reset. I'll look into it.

Fuck you, you fucking no-talent media-whore cunt. Tell me about it. Blame the band. If you've seen any of her shows on MTV, then you'd know she's been doing this since day one. On one episode, she had her first rehearsal with the band. Actually, it was her first rehearsal with any band, her first time in front of stage monitors, her first time on stage, her first time... you get the idea. Of course she keeps fucking up the tunes because she's never performed live in her life, and she blames the band every single time. It explains why they were not embarassed at all in that clip and were actually smiling when she left the stage.

It's hard not to let it get to me when I'm out here slogging in the trenches, fighting every month just to get gigs, gigs which consist of playing smoky bars mostly to people who don't give a shit, after having spent my entire life trying to be the best musician I can be. But whaddya gonna do? America does not value quality or craftsmanship. We can see that every day in everything from architecture to TV programs to restaurants. Such is life.

Ah the musing of an artist:

Ugh. She's disgusting. I am embarassed to say I watched a couple episodes of her show while taking care of baby Zora and channel surfing. I could only watch two episodes because it infuriated me so much. Why? 1) She has about as much talent as your average back-up chorus girl in your local high school's production of Guys & Dolls. 2) Despite that fact, and because of her sister's celebrity and also because of her looks (which are not that great, imo) she gets a multi-million dollar record/touring deal without having ever performed live. 3) On the show she talks about how cool it is that she's writing all these songs, when actually she supplies a few cliched lyrics and then the record company brings in an entire team of pop producers/songwriters to do the rest. She doesn't write one lick, one note, one rhythm, one chord of any tune. Yet because she gets songwriting credits, she gets a bunch of money for all the albums sold... even though she didn't do jack shit. 4) To further the above, every "note" she sings on her record is run through Auto-Tune to fix her pitch, a bunch of EQ to fix her tone, a bank of compressors to fix her horrible breath support, etc. etc. etc. Also, they do hundreds of takes for each song and then patch the vocal line together, piece by piece. No wonder she has to lipsync. She's never actually sung the tunes. 5) On the show she also wrote in her diary how proud she was that "it's been a year since I became an artist". 6) She represents everything that is evil about the music industry. It was my hope that her show would reveal to the ignorant masses just how much the music industry manipulates so-called "artists" in order to appeal to those same ignorant masses and that this isn't music at all but more akin to slop in a trough. But that's a false hope.

Who'd want to live in a world that had nothing you could complain about? What would Chuck do with his time?! And his excess urine?

Nice work, Jon! Jim, I'm not sure what you're looking for...
