  1. David Baker's sound is one of utmost clarity, space, and respect for the instruments and musicians. The records he engineered are testatments to craft and quality and a love of music. Thank you, Jim, for posting this. Do you mind if I link to this on other forums?
  2. Hey, you're not supposed to see this. I'm just testing.
  3. Couw, thanks for the re-write. I'm still thinking it over. I honestly want people to know what CDStreet did and not order any CDs from them, not just ours. I don't care that they are under new ownership. We signed a contract with them and they didn't hold up their end of the deal. $400 is a lot of money to us. It cost us $6k to make that CD... that's $6k out of our own pocket. Just this summer we printed up another 1,000 copies which is another $2k. So you can see why $400 isn't something to scoff at. The new reviews must've alerted their automatic emailer. Check out the email I just got from them:
  4. Oo, I hope the broadcast the game tonight. Pistons vs. Heat and big ol' Shaq. Whoopee! I hope Ben Wallace puts the smackdown on him.
  5. I've always believed that if you truly want to invest in something, rather than playing the stock market, buy a hand-made guitar from a well-known luther. That guitar is about $4k now, but what would it be in 20 years? A lot more than that.
  6. Thanks! That's good stuff!
  7. I have a temper, but I've made a conscious effort to get that out of me completely. My wife doesn't stand for it at all, so that helps. I also take too much stuff on and then things don't get done.
  8. They're lucky that's all I've said! Christ, they ripped us off for almost $400, which is a lot of money to us!! We sold 33 CDs in March (more than one a day), mainly from you folks here on the forum, and they gave us 10% of that. That's shitty. I appreciate the concern, but the company obviously doesn't care about it's clients. I've never gotten an email response from a real person, whereas if you email CDBaby, you get a response directly from Derek Shivers, the owner. I feel sorry for the people still selling their CDs through CDStreet. They are con artists.
  9. For saying eat shit? Why?
  10. My mistake, you're right. Who did the Kings pick up?
  11. Check out our CDStreet page now: Eat Shit, CDSTREET! That oughta get their attention.
  12. I've got a pretty good idea... hold on...
  13. Hm... and maybe CJ Shearn can't see avatars...
  14. I know it's only pre-season and I didn't get a chance to watch my Detroit boyz come back in the last 4 minutes against Boston on Wednesday (I can't believed that wasn't televised... it's the defending national champs and you're not going to televise it?) but I'm really excited for the new NBA season. I watched some of the Rockets/Kings game this morning. I guess I haven't been paying attention... when did the Kings get T-Mac? Any other moves I should know about?
  15. That's beautiful. And probably $$$$$.
  16. Oh yes, I definately tell the folks who ordered a CD why I'm asking them to cancel the order. So far everyone has been cool with it and very supportive, but it's still embarassing.
  17. Phew, Al. Glad everyone is all right. One of my biggest fears is that a fire will start in this house. I've heard stories of the transformers blowing up in computer monitors (even if they are in "sleep" mode), so I always turn them off at night. When I was a kid we lived in an old farm house in the country and one cold night my dad lit a fire in the fireplace like he had done a thousand times before but for some reason the upstairs room, where my three sisters slept, started on fire INSIDE THE WALL facing the chimney. It turned out the chimney was built wrong and it lit up the insulation. The firetrucks came quickly and no one was hurt, but it scared the crap out of me. I remember having to stay at my grandma's house for a week while my dad and uncles fixed the damage. Obviously the fireplace was never used again after that. Scary stuff.
  18. I just got another order through CDStreet for our CD. I've emailed, called, and faxed them several times asking them to remove us from the website, obviously to no avail. It's really embarassing to have to email the nice people buying our CD and ask them to cancel their order and instead order it through CDBaby or directly through us. I hate CDStreet.
  19. Good to see you here again, JA!
  20. I didn't realize it had such an impact! I read those two quotes this weekend and just couldn't resist putting them out there, since they are so ridiculous. I'll probably return to the old sig once the election is over.
  21. Now Jim, let's be fair here. I sometimes have problems with Canada Post. But I don't think we know on which side of the border the package got hung up. I cannot help but remember the time the US P.O. sent my Mosaic order to England instead of Canada. Same queen... who cares?
