Can I have been hacked even though my Antivirus
Jim Alfredson replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
This is the problem most people don't realize with Outlook.... if you have the Preview Pane active, as soon as you click on that message, it is opened by the Preview Pane and you're screwed. I'll repeat again, it is OPENED by the Preview Pane, even if you don't open it. As soon as you see part of the message in that Preview Pane, the message has already been opened... thank you Microsoft for such a stupid fuckin' feature. Turn the pane OFF. It's good for nothing except infecting your computer. Norton sucks. Try AVG instead. It's free, the updates are free, and it doesn't hog resources like Norton. Keep your anti-virus software up to date but also scan your computer with Ad-Aware and Spybot, programs that find spyware that regular anti-virus programs almost never find. Most problems with IE not acting like it should are spyware, not viruses or worms. Case in point: My sis's computer kept changing her homepage in IE. Usually to some weird porn site. Her virus definitions were months old. We updated them and AVG found 8 worms and got rid of them. IE was still changing homepage and weird porn sites still coming up. So then we updated Ad-Aware and ran that... 30 more items. Then we ran Spybot after updating that... 8 more items including Hotbar, the absolute most irritating software ever written right next to Gator. Whoever coded these monstrosities should have their nuts cut off. IE is still not going to the correct homepage. Come to find out the software from Comcast, her cable provider, is to blame. The fuckin' cable modem company's software is nothing but spyware (that you don't need to use a cable modem, by the way). I have to do research on how to get that off there since it has embedded itself within IE. Makes me want to go to Linux so badly. -
I still want you to do our next CD cover!

"Is Blue Note striking off key?"
Jim Alfredson replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Gosh, all Van Morrison had to do is say, "I want to be on Blue Note"? I've been saying that for years... what gives? -
Wild... is there a name for that style?

There are a couple books out with his stuff. Highly recommended! You can just stare at the photos for hours.

More Durer: I love him because he was around before the Church started telling everyone what they could and could not produce. As such, his paintings and woodcuts have real imagination to them. Pretty interesting read about Durer here.

Chuck Close. Brilliant. You have to see one of his paintings in person to really understand the power of them.

My wife and I love Andy Goldsworthy. How he creates some of these things, I'll never understand. He uses only materials found around the area he's creating in including wood, rocks, leaves, his own spit, thorns, etc.

Yeah, it is Bozzio's kit. That's just nuts. How long does it take to set all that shit up?
-
I forgot to mention that Saturday, Randy added a bit to his kit.... I thought it was a bit much, but he liked it...

All right, since this is the second time this particular Organissimo member has deceived fellow members by using an alias with the sole intention of fooling people, I am not going to go the ol' private email route like I did before with him and try to settle this behind the scenes. Word to wise, folks. Every post from every computer that you use leaves behind an IP address that I can see. I can instantly see exactly who is using what IP address or addresses, find all posts using such an address, find all users who have ever used such an address, etc. etc. So don't come in here pretending to be someone you're not. The rules clearly state: So with that in mind, Norah Jones Fan has the same IP address as Jazz Groove who also has the same address as BLP 1577 who, as our older users may remember, also used the same IP address to create an account called Chicken Shack and proceeded to post a stupid announcement about Mosaic, just to stir the shit, back in July which can be seen here. Now he's doing it again, creating an account called Norah Jones Fan to come in here and stir up shit. Maybe you think it's funny, Jazz Groove, but I find it annoying and stupid. But rather than ban you, I figured I'd just let everyone know so they can make fun of you endlessly since you're acting like an idiot. Have fun! Fire away, folks.

No we didn't... slipped my mind. Oh I forgot, we played the "Theme From The Odd Couple", the Don Patterson version, on Friday too! Someone in the audience actually asked for that.

Back At The Chicken Shack from the record of the same name is what Paul is referring to! We started the night out with Jimmy Smith's "Mellow Mood" from the record "The Further Adventures of Jimmy & Wes". Saturday night we had fun and unveiled some new tunes that will be on our next record (most likely) including our take of the James Brown thang called "Shape Up Your Bag". We got a great response with that tune and Randy was playing with real FIRE. We played a lot of tunes on Friday. I don't recall each one. Maybe Joe can help out.

I appreciate the thought, but without you guys, this board would be nothing. I say whoever happens to get the 100,000th post, enjoy it and make a big stink about it! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

You may have to find yourself an old copy of the Sermon with the extra tunes on it... I would think you could find one on ebay.

Good to hear from you, Mike! Sounds like you were inspired... that's a good thing!

Classic and Modern Computer & Arcade Games
Jim Alfredson replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Wow. That MAME emulator program is absolutely amazing. I'm having the time of my life playing old arcade shooters (they just don't make 'em like they used too). I need to hook a joystick up to this computer! The CSS64 Commodore 64 emulator is the best one and it's not hard to use at all. I highly recommend it. -
How long has the BNBB been closed?
Jim Alfredson replied to Jazz Groove's topic in Miscellaneous Music
That is the absolute most hilarious and most ironic thing I've ever read, bar-none, on this board. -
From the episode of The Simpsons where they go to England: Homer: "There's Jimmy Page, one of the biggest thieves of black music that ever walked the earth." Hehe...
