  1. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the incredibly horrible MIDI rendition of that incredibly horrible hit from that incredibly horrible group "The Spice Girls" that blasts from your computer speakers upon enterting that site. There is something truly frigthening about this picture.
  2. Thanks, kenny, I'll check it out!
  3. Joe, it's a Jimmy Smith record. I have it. Smokes. Kenny is my dad's favorite guitarist. He's bad...
  4. I knew the horrid animated gifs would find their way onto my site somehow. Thank you, Rooster. I shall now gouge my eyes out with a cardboard tube.
  5. What about Larry Young? His last records for Arista are horrid. Such a shame. If either of them had lived to see the organ revival we'd have ourselves some BAD shit on disc today.
  6. Thank you Matthew! I'm glad it has some longevity. We'll see if we can make our next one as good if not better!
  7. The guitarist from my R&B band was talking about this last night... one thing he mentioned, which I thought was interesting, is that he was upset at the show because everyone was saying, "Jimi was great, he was the shit..." etc etc. He claims that the brothers (and by that he means, generally, black musicians of the time, mainly in the blues vein) didn't get Jimi. In fact, a lot of them bad-mouthed him. He claims that Albert King said some horrible things about Jimi. Is this true? His point was that the film should've made mention of the fact that a lot of people in the blues community didn't get what Jimi was doing for a long time and dissed him. Right or wrong?
  8. I played that record for my wife on our first date. She loves it and so do I!
  9. Too late. Everyone's banned.
  10. Dude, that's because you're way off in Germania somewhere!
  11. Jazzmoose was not quoting from the article folks. He made that line up. He was joking... I hope...
  12. I commented on this when it was brought up originally. I think it's great! I definately want a copy just because it's so nutty. I love those old synths, too. I was fascinated as a kid by Tomita and Walter (now Wendy) Carlos.
  13. I was going to vote for Wes but pressed the wrong button. Why is the "null vote" button so much bigger than the "vote" button? Anyway, Wes with Jimmy is total magic. The Wes records with Mel Rhyne are fantastic as well. He really didn't record enough with organ, IMO... hell, he didn't record enough period!
  14. Names are hard. Randy just posted a new article about us in the Grand Rapids Press that claims our guitarist is named "Joe Glass". That Joe Glass is an ass, I tell ya!
  15. Yeah, but when that's over, will he take the darn Blindfold Test I so thoughtfully provided? Or, hand it off to Joe and Randy and let them post their guesses. Well, Organissimo hasn't rehearsed since that day I posted about in the last Blindfold Test thread. After my hiatus I have every intention of listening and commenting on the BFT #2 that you so graciously bestowed upon me! I really do appreciate it... the timing was just off. Re: Root Down. Just my opinion. I probably should listen to it more before totally dismissing it...
  16. They're getting through to me. I'll look into it but it seems to be working for me...
  17. I'd love to have an iPod. Don't take it back if it doesn't work, donate it to the Poor Organists Fund.
  18. There's an interview with Winwood in this month's Keyboard magazine. Nice little article. He discusses his practice routine for pedals. I still haven't heard this record. One of these days I'm going to place a huge order for CDs I've been meaning to get... ... in about 10 years...
  19. I saw it too. Bobby Rush is the man. Saw him last year at a Blues Festival here in town. My R&B band actually played right before him. He's a bad dude.
  20. It's working great, too. I might extend it. I've written two tunes, which is pretty good considering I haven't had much time to actually practice lately. I've been doing home repair (I got that door on, Joe. It's sweet but I realized what it needs to make it AWESOME... dividing the large space where they had put a single pane of glass into four spaces!!!!) Noj's list is interesting. I've listened to Root Down maybe twice. I think it's pretty boring. I've listened to Jimmy Smith's BN titles so many times I'm surprised the CDs still play! But before my hiatus started I was re-visiting them again. Great stuff.
  21. Manual. I have an electric and used it for a year but it never got as close as I liked and it gave me razor rash. I use a Mach 3 as well. It's the shiz-nit. My wife sells Mary Kay and I've been using their shaving cream (it's made for men). It works great and smells nice.
  22. Yes, yes you are. There is a healthy blues scene here in Lansing but a lot of the "singers" leave much to be desired.
  23. Michel, is the black box you refer to the one you got from my friend? It has a ground lift switch on it that may eliminate your buzzing. I've been having a problem with mine but it's related to the Hammond, not the box. Since I move my B3 around constantly, the power line running from the panel in the back up to the interior of the organ has become worn and is basically putting 120V into the chassis of the organ (ie, the preamp's metal skin and such). This causes the direct box to blow any circuit the minute it's connected to another device, such as a mixer, since it's basically getting 120V from it's ground connection. The solution is to put new AC wire in the organ. I haven't done it yet since I haven't been using the direct box lately but I'll have to before we go into the studio again. On our record the engineer used a combination of the direct box and a Neumann U87 on the bass rotor for the low end. I think it sounds pretty good although I'm excited about recording our next record. This time I'm going to use my newly acquired Leslie 21H instead of the 122. The 21H has more bass naturally as a result of it's more powerful amp and the field coil Jensen 15 inch woofer it employs. It's going to be earth-shaking!!!
