  1. Shouldn't that be Cannonball for Somethin' Else
  2. just hijacking briefly, can we use this for a caption competition one day Johnny?
  3. Ronnie Matthews on Freddie Hubbard's Breaking Point, mainly for his comping and solo on Mirrors.
  4. Ron Carter on Miles Smiles, or anyone on Miles Smiles for that matter! George Coleman on err......either My Funny Valentine or House Party where he's on alto. Help me decide that one. Mal Waldron on Dolphy's first Five Spot disc; even with that piano he kills me on 'Bee Vamp'.
  5. Rooster's taking some time over this one!
  6. I always thought Sonny Red was quite a cool name, as are all the Sonnys. Jackie Mac sounds cool and a bit pugilistic but wasn't of course the full title. They were also the first choice names (along with Frankie Mac, Zoot, Stan, Curtis, Art) for our first born son which my wife dismissed on the grounds that he'll either be picked on or he'd get labelled a 'hard case'
  7. Predictably, August in the far north was bloody awful. Most of September and up to now have been glorious; open top motoring, short sleeves on the bike and balmy evenings outside the pub so far. Well apart from today which is warm and wet.
  8. Well said!
  9. My feelings exactly on this album.
  10. No Peter, it is actually just a standard 350. The Supercharged 350s and turbocharged 280s were parked in a different line, further to the left....'snobbery' eh?!! Now's a good time to buy though; Blighty winter is coming and prices drop. There's a very, very rare 430 (same shape) in our classifieds right now. One of three made. I'll help deliver it if you like.
  11. or you could download the trial version of THIS. I've now done all the recent BN RVGs and a few recent rock records. Scandalous that we should have to, of course, but this is at least a solution.
  12. Great news. Congratulations fellas.
  13. OK Andy. You asked for it. I'm next to the guy in the red baseball cap.
  14. It (the bike) was great for doing wheelies on. ← Great for doing wheelies on with your best mate sat pillion. They even had a designated warning stuck to the saddle along the lines of "Please do not sit your best mate on the back and pull wheelies"
  15. Just by chance, the Brit version of that was rather in-appropriately called the.....erm.... see for yourself
  16. Whooaahh!!!!!!!! Dude. That's sooo cooo-el!
  17. Happy Birthday Marcus! can you request a blonde off Lon next year?
  18. Shame that such an 'institution' is closing. Unfortunately, as I don't visit London much, I haven't had chance to even shop there. I wish the current owners well whatever they do; and hope your fantasy becomes realised David.
  19. 55! Wow. That's a lot of jazz knowledge Brad Congratulations
  20. These arrived:
  21. Maybe the studies were flawed Dan; the amount of cyclists I see who have diabolical postions on the bike and that have their saddles sloping up to the sky or down to the floor. Are these doctors au fait with the ergonomics of cycling? Then again, I could just be speaking for the virile minority.
  22. BeBop, Ed and other cyclists here; let's 'stand up' against these flaccid remarks. Let's denounce them together, proudly and upright..... We'll maybe send photos.....
  23. Oh yes, the injustice. Sorry news. he really was a funny guy, even made prison seem humourous.
  24. Yeah! It was a surprise to me too. Here's a link to an Observer review of it from a few weeks ago I think. I had no idea who the drummer was, but you mainlanders may know! I had a very short listen to it last night (while washing up or something....not ideal) and it seems very introspective but not totally removed; very cool, urbane you could say.
  25. Congratulations Rod. Have a great day.
